Mascot - Rock a Chaws
These are the sand burrs that get stuck in your feet at the beach. Indian name for "devil grass". Back when the school started playing football in the early 1900s there was a ton of "Rock a Chaws" all over the field. They started calling the football team that and it stuck. School is located right on the beach.

Yup, in Due West, South Carolina. My wife's uncle lives on the same street as Dixie HS.
Due West is just up the road and not too far from Ninety Six, SC.
