I loved Gundam Wing too

Had to google this -

Seems like most on here are close in age (early 30s here) and I see quite a few people talk about anime. I don't ever remember these types of shows being on TV? I doubt if I would have been interested anyway b/c they seem kinda weird to me now but what channels were they on??

Toonami. A late night Saturday show where they showed cartoons/anime that was a little more mature oriented than regular broadcast Cartoon Network shows. But they were a completely different entity from Adult Swim as in they didn't show anything THAT mature.

Their heyday was mostly in the late 90s to mid 2000s. So many good shows and memorable broadcasts.

Another anime I love is Tokyo Ghoul. Dude on the bottom is a bonafide badass.

Honestly, a lot of them are weird, but the ones that were great, were really great. Mature themes, great animation, and very entertaining. At least when I was a young and before I was drinking booze/trying to end my virginity, they came on after school. I haven't really enjoyed an anime since that time with one exception, FMA: Brotherhood on Netflix, that I watched about 6 months ago.

I'll just say that Goku turning Super Saiyan for the first time was definitely a memorable moment from my childhood, and I feel bad for kids my age that never got in to it. Sucks so hard for them.

1. 24
2. Lost - Frick the haters
3. TWD
4. The Office
4b. Friends - see the note on "Lost"
5. The Wire (only made it through Season 3)
5b. The Americans

Lost and TWD are somewhat similar, IMO. The plot is nonsensical but internally consistent (at least until the end of Lost). You come back for the compelling characters.

The ending of Lost was insulting and ridiculous. As well as all the unanswered questions.

How does this not make you mad?

I didn't care about the questions. At some point you realized the writers were just winging it and just enjoy the characters. I did.

Part of what drove the character development for every one of them was the conflict of shite that happened on the island... trivializing it made their development trivial.

Prison Break was excellent the first 2 seasons, after that it sucked. It was painfully bad .

No doubt about it.

Now to lists...In no particular order

1. The Wire
2. South Park
3. Archer
4. Mad Men
5. The West Wing

Haven't seen Breaking Bad except for a little bit of the first season. I assume it will be in the list whenever I get around to finishing it.

I blame the Catholic Church for most of that.

Sorkin and recreational drug use finishes the puzzle.

Hogan's Heroe was much better. These shows are hard to watch when you know that escape will never happen.
