The power the NN rules gave the gov't in 2015 to regulate the Internet were absurd and should have never been there in the first place.

Why does everyone trust the decisions made by elected/appointed officials all of a sudden? We really want these people to continue regulating the Internet in the name of "fairness?" It's the same-old tired argument made every time in favor of increasing regulation/laws/penalties - all in the name of "fairness" and "safety." Don't believe the hype.

I fail to see how corporate greed is a good thing. 3 or 4internet conglomerates shouldn’t dictate who has access to the internet speeds. This will kill smaller businesses who can’t afford whatever rates companies like Verizon and Comcast will charge.

Because unlike you Trumpkins most people have the cognitive dissonance to do their own research instead of lapping up whatever Teump or Hannity or Alex Jones says.

Let’s hope. I always point to craft beer in the states as the most beautiful examples of the free market capitalism.

Not apples to apples, but we shall see.

It's not good because this is not a win for the free market. A few ISP's already have a veritable monopoly in place, and they have the infrastructure and government resources in place to protect that monopoly.

Why would massive ISP's be in favor of this if it truly represented a threat to their market share?

At the very best, this is not going to be good for us.

This particular example is not a free market, and the game is rigged. Capitalism doesn't stand a chance in this case if the government doesn't set some conditions.

Good comparison. I like that example. Craft beers are able to succeed because a lot of business savvy people have teamed up with artists and brewers to design delicious beverages all across the country, for people from all walks of life. That is America.

However, they would have a much harder time doing that if the megabeer companies owned all sources of production, all modes of logistics for transporting goods, and had beneficial relationships with governments nationwide so that no other competitors could sell beer in their respective markets.

Capitalism and the free market is the first paragraph. The internet is the second.

The game is rigged because your local municipalities rigged it. NN does absolutely nothing to address that.

NN was a bandaid on a 12 gauge slug entry wound. Congress just ripped it off and didn't remove the slug.

You haven't been paying attention to Google Fiber, have you? Google Fiber (or "it's equivalent") is not going to get installed everywhere and it has nothing to do with net neutrality.

, for one, welcome our new ISP overlords.

I am happy to pay as much as they want to charge me to access only the websites they and their mass media owners believe I should see.

Any concern or doubt over this is basically communism, and goes against the teachings of our god-emperor Trump.

anybody who thinks this is going to benefit the consumer is either a retarded blind trumptard, or didn't understand what net neutrality protected. the vast majority isn't in favor of this, and we are all about to get fricked. ISPs are a very close second to insurance companies as the most hated, and this just gave them MORE fricking power.

Isn't Comcast consistently rated the worst company in America?

Congress just fricked us, and they got paid to do it.

Pick up a brick and throw it at your rep, because that's about all we can do now.

As a Comcast customer, absolutely.

A simple majority in the house can overturn this, if the courts can’t do anything.

17% of people age 18-29 use ONLY a cell phone for home internet access, and that number has grown rapidly in the last few years. Those companies have been effectively doing this for years by zero rating content they own or have partnerships with. NN doesn't do a thing to help all those cord cutting millennials.

ETA - In fact, NN allows them to do exactly what you are saying NN shouldn't allow them to do.

If they were going to interfere at all, a simple majority in congress should have written rules for ISPs instead of allowing the FCC to throw 90 year old inadequate legislation on them, that never really addressed the municipal problem to begin with.
