i would include the valley in a lot of this, but McAllen's actually a nice town all things considering.

Yeah. I consider them two separate areas(the Valley and the hell triangle of South Texas) but they are pretty much the same thing. McAllen isn't horrible, but damn what is there to do without losing your mind?

Gentrification. Much like certain urban areas in New Orleans.

I love Austin but the people suck, they really are Californian nut jobs, the since of entitlement and bigotry that is rampant will forever keep me from living there

But there is no worse cities in Texas than Lubbock, Denton, and Huntsville.

You just didn't try hard enough. Palestine is even worse than those. So are most of the border towns. Midland before the boom was the most miserable place on the planet.

Midland is still terrible. But there's a lot worse out there.

Mainly Van Horn.

was in Mason first. but it's great BBQ

Yes and it's still here. Under new ownership but still pretty good. They have the original recipe's. Llano's, is the most famous but only because most folks don't know the history behind it. They have several branches around the state now but I think the one in Llano, is still the most authentic.
