We discussed the best places to live in the SEC and I said I would live in Northwest Arkansas or Nashville TN. But let me tell you this, after spending a weekend in North Alabama, I don't recognize the place. I've been a few times but if has been years. Huntsville has grown into a major area which is booming like no other area I've seen. Even the Shoals area is pretty nice. It's like the anti Alabama up there.

Outside of Gulf Shores, Alabama for the most part just reminds me of MS with more people. But after this weekend I see legit progress for that state. Very impressive indeed and kudos to our Alabama folk up there for making it that way.

Huntsville is a great place for families and beautiful landscape. NASA and the military have brought in some good money and good people.

Yeah, it's about to overtake Mobile as the 2nd largest city.
Mostly because of it's home US Missile Defense Command, Marshall Spaceflight Center...and the Department of Homeland Security and the FBI are moving massive operations there.

It also has the 2nd largest research park in the nation, behind the research triangle in NC, and 4th largest in the world.

It has the most engineers per capita than anywhere in the world.
You basically can't throw a rock without hitting a rocket scientist or engineer. Therefore income is high.

I'm excited about the minor league stadium/hotel combo they're building in Madison.

And it'll be the largest city in Alabama in less than 10 years. Huntsville is booming!

Alabama has one of the most varied geographies in the US. North Alabama, especially Northeast Alabama, with its many small mountains, canyons, waterfalls, etc., is nothing like Mississippi.

Great area in terms of proximity to outdoor activities and access to metro areas.

I'm from Louisiana and proud....but it's on the decline and has been since likely before I was born. I hate it, but it's the truth. You try to have pride and take action and it's like 1 step forward and 3 steps back.

You can draw a circle around Huntsville, Chattanooga, Asheville, Knoxville and Greenville and have a bunch of really nice mid sized cities within 3-4 hours of each other.

Got that new Toyota plant coming soon also. The people that run that area have done a great job.
