Randy Rogers and Wade Bowen are here to fight of the injustice of "Bro Country" that's effectively ruined Nashville. Check out their new album, "Hold My Beer: Vol 1". It'll be the best country album you've heard since Sturgill Simpson's "Metamodern Sounds in Country Music" last year.

You're welcome.

I'll check them out when I get to the house. I haven't listened to new country in over a decade. The shite they put out now makes my ears bleed. Country isn't my favorite by any means, but I appreciate the old stuff.

Don't forget about Waylon and Cash.

I mean, I think that's kind of the point of this thread - country music has strayed so far from that standard.

I made it this far before becoming disinterested.

If you haven't heard Sturgill Simpson, you need to check him out as well. He's the most "authentic" country act out there going. Simply amazing.

Ruined Nashville is strong. But I do hate pop country.

Um no.

This is what 15 year old girls who don't want to be uber mainstream in Texas like. And what frat boy Aggies like.

I'd rather take Ryan Bingham or Jason Isbell.

And the list goes on.

Cash didn't write most of his popular stuff.

He was an image. And he played into that image.

He also had a good name.

There were others, like a Townes Van Zandt who get severely overlooked who really wrote the shite they sang.

Wow, country artists who sing about beer? Next you'll tell me they sing about trucks, dirt roads and tight jeans on a Sunday.

Leave the frat boy, loafer waring, night time facial cream 'bro' alone. He thinks this is legit.

Edit: when some of you grow up, you can listen to a good genre like bluegrass.

I loved pop country when it was T-Swift. The current incarnation is terrible.

They might listen to old Randy but I don't think there is any way they listen to Sturgill.

90s-early 2000s Pat Green was the he pinnacle of Texas country. "Three Days" is the best album ever to come out of that genre IMO.

He wrote some but he was a country legend because of his style.
He wrote a few good ones though. Walk the line, Man in Black, Folsom Prison Blues, The Matador, Tennessee Flat Top Box, Understand your Man and about 20 others.
