Battoning down the hatches in Huntsville AL. Of course I'd have an exam when I'm scared to death of a freakin tornado

Isn't Huntsville more prone to have tornados than other cities in Alabama? Something about it's location?

Central MS and Northern AL seem to have the highest density of strong tornadoes in the South. Not sure what the meteorlogical reason is for that though.

It's going to fizzle over the morning and allow Some heating. The more rain you get, the less the heating should be.
Around the areas where the rain stopped are where I'm going to be watching this afternoon into the evening.

What does the shear and instability for the delta look like?
All my radar is showing is rain unless it's going to build up. I can't really watch it except for this thread on my phone cause I'm at work and my radio in the farm truck quit working

I don't know about percentages or anything but it seems we have the tornado sirens go off three four times a year. Normally we(or at least the south side of town) have been lucky enough to avoid the worst of it but 2011 was bad.
In any case it's supposed to hit us around five or so. Can I tell you guys who's not going to his night classes?

I'd say as far as MS goes Hattiesburg north would be under the gun
The radar won't show whats going to happen later. Storms will pop up later, what you are seeing now isn't what will be coming later. Unless you know how storms work and what to look for on radar to forecast don't rely on radar to tell you whats going to come, its only good for whats happening now. Thats the biggest mistake people make. They look at the radar and say "oh its almost over".. no .. the storms that will come tonight aren't even formed yet

Just look at Arkansas yesterday. Line blew through morning to midday but the real bad stuff came into the early evening.

yep. but so many people look at the radar and think its over, thats not a smart way to think. just pay attention to the outlooks and don't let your guard down until wednesday.

Looks like a cell to my west gaining strength. Huge inflow bands and lots of lightning

We're so used to watching front squall lines and tropical systems. The radar can pretty much tell you where it is. Systems that fire off supercells ahead of the line, the radar isn't going to tell you the story. Once there's something to force away the cap, they seemingly appear out of nowhere.
I'm thinking that traditional tunnel (Yazoo City-Columbus-Tuscaloosa-Brimingham-Huntsville) will end up being the best focus tonight. Obviously there's a risk outside of all that. I'm just playing the wild speculation game (with a hint of fear mongering TWC sytle). One might say around I-20 with a little bit of bias a little to the north.

Here in Indianola too. It rained lightly for about 30 minutes then quit.

Doesn't mean you'll see tornadoes. Just means there will (in theory) be more daytime heating that will increase instability. Just keep your ear to the ground come let's say after 3 p.m.

Sheesh. I hate this time of year!
It's stayed cloudy and rainy all morning here in Corinth. I'm hoping that helps out.

Please stay safe, guys. This system has already shown itself to be a killer.
Prayers for the victims and their families in OK, AR, and MO...terrible tragedy.
