I hope nothing develops anywhere. Tornadoes are my biggest fear weather wise because they are so unpredictable.

They are amazing (not in a good way) and I love to study them but the devastation that they can cause is sobering.

63 Tornado reports yesterday unofficially so far. Many will be determined to be the continuation of the same tornado once the official field assessments are done by the NWS. But 63 reports - WOW!

April 27, 2011 for comparison. Yesterday was BAD but not April 2011 bad. Of course, if one hit you yesterday, it WAS bad. It's all about location.

Yeah appears bad but not historically bad.

Don't think there were any E4-E5 level tornadoes thankfully. But that won't be known for a bit.

Thanks

Another round coming this afternoon though starting at 4

Traffic looks like its a mess this morning

I don't understand some schools still only delaying and not fully closing More nasty weather even if it is severe TStorms and direct high level winds supposed to start at 4

Are the schools letting out early or not going in til 10 or 11?

If it's the latter that's dumb

Not going in till later I know sounds dumb to even open any schools in our area today to me

Especially since a "State Of Emergency" was declared for the whole state, that means the schools can close without using an extra weather day.

So close em IMO

Several schools in Georgia, especially NW, delayed opening two hours this morning. A few other systems have cancelled after school activities and all fieldtrips scheduled for today. Haven't heard of any of them closing early yet.

OUr school opened at regular time today. No word on closing early. We didn't have much, if any, damage in our part of Birmingham though.

Some schools here are delayed opening and some are closing early, while others are closed period.

Obviously many of the decision makers are confused about what the weather is supposed to do.

Model run showing updrafts and strengths for this afternoon. Yesterday this showed a strong updraft over Tupelo and we know what happened there. Hopefully the tornadoes won't be as widespread today, but the atmosphere is still favorable for severe thunderstorms and tornadoes.

Stay safe all.

Has everyone checked in from yesterday's outbreak?

Not yesterday, maybe but the one that hit AR is estimated an E4. Hope this round is over...unfortunately tornado season is just getting ramped.

My whole family lives in Oklahoma so I'm always uneasy.

I wish it was over, but it doesn't appear to be in the cards. My bet for today would be storms to start in the Northshore and roll up into Mississippi and Alabama generally along I-59. Mid-level jet is still very strong through central Mississippi and with the time to heat up instability is going to build.
