I was working in Texas a few semesters ago and here's my experience:
1.) It somehow manages to be the hottest place on earth in the summer
Hot enough to make the devil sigh

2.) It's also dry as frick
Depends on which part of the state you're in, and what time of year.

You don't need to deflect. You can answer honestly. Are you in high school or college? Why is it a big deal if you answer that question?

It's cute that you think Texas is a desert.
I drove across your state a couple times. Didn't see a lot of water. Didn't see a lot of trees.

Nothing casual a/b it the first time. Slept in shifts. Second time I stopped in Austin (from NOLA) for a few days to pick up a friend on the way to LA. Camped out somewhere off 10 before the second to last leg to San Diego.

An A&M grad would have been smart enough to fly instead of drive

I suppose an A&M grad would think it more cost effective to fly a large truck across the country rather than drive it.

I bet you would have saved money shipping it. Dummy

Please stop. You have no idea what you're talking a/b. It would not be cheaper.

Whatever you do, make sure to realize that you'll need to go to a school that has a top of the line football program, so that you can live vicariously through them for the rest of your life after college.

How much did you pay for gas on this trip?

Have you ever been to East Texas? It's piney woods.

Can't recall. The trip was approximately 2500 miles. The vehicle was a large food truck manufactured in Los Angeles by AA Catering.
We looked at shipping it. Aside from being cost prohibitive relative to simply flying out and driving it back, there was also bad weather all summer in the Midwest that had backed up shipping companies. They said they could do it in 2-3 mos.

Might be. Didn't make much of an impression.
