Have any posters had a sighting?
The Alabama White Thang is a cryptid creature that has been spotted in a triangle of counties in Alabama. The counties of Etowah, Jefferson and Morgan have had sightings of a 7 foot tall, humanoid creature that is covered with white hair. The sound the creature makes is said to sound like a screaming woman or a panther. Some think the creature could be an albino bear, or possibly an albino Bigfoot.
Here's a short little documentary with some eye witness interviews:

Check out the YouTube channel in the video I posted if you're into that sort of thing. I know the guy who does the channel, he's got 31k subscribers in about a year so he's doing something right. He also has a lot of paranormal videos, exploring abandoned haunted properties type thing.

My grandmother used to tell stories of the White Thang on Sand Mountain in Jackson County.

I've also spoken to people - hunters and outdoorsman - who swear they've seen black panthers on Sand Montain.

There was a black panther spotted in Dadeville just the other week, so its possible.
Care to share any of the stories your grandma told?

No. There are no melanistic Florida Panthers (which is the only big cat species that might be near Dadeville). There are black jaguars in North America (Mexico), but there are only a couple (and they aren't black) known to be in the US, and they are 2,000 miles or more from Dadeville.

Dadeville Police Chief David Barbour has taken a few calls in recent weeks about a black panther prowling around in his neck of the woods.
"They seem legit. I've seen a few Facebook posts as well," said Chief Barbour

She never saw it herself, but had stories of others who saw it, including her brother.
Most of the stories come from when she was young, Depression era or soon after. The tales were simple - someone's hunting or traveling in the woods and saw something bizarre and white moving behind the trees.
I never got the impression it was a cryptid from the way she told it. They were more like ghost stories than anything else. The White Thang was said to be much too bright or moved too strangely to be an animal.
Until recently, I always thought it was just a local legend. I had no idea other parts of the state reported sightings.

Hard to argue with that.

There's quite a bit of chatter going on in Tallapoosa County about black panther sightings. Not only did we here at WSFA receive an inquiry about the panther, but so did the Dadeville Police Department.
Two separate, and reputable, sources have confirmed that there are sightings.
That is not a coincidence. It’s a growing body of evidence.

I've never heard of the "White Thang", however I have heard of the Walnut Creek monster that supposedly lives in Pike County. More of a traditional bigfoot, heard tales of hunters seeing it in swampy areas.

There have never been any documented cases of a black panther in Alabama and no compelling evidence such an animal ever existed in the world
