Oh, and go back and read the article and explain where Nike's making 34 mil. on the ad......negative exposure doesn't result in revenue

Fortune.com, NBC, the post, etc all have articles saying the exact same thing. Their sales, online in particular, jumped over 30% in the days following the ad. Idk what to tell you. It doesn’t cost a company money when someone sets fire to something they already purchased. And most of those types aren’t buying Nike merchandise monthly or even yearly. Urban kids are, and they immediately bought Nikes in the last few days.
I may score myself a pair now that I’m thinking of it. Pretty sure j crew has the killshots back, and those are fire.

And since you may not trust the fake news, but rather asked what the stock holders think, here is an article from NASDAQ.

quote:Thanks. I'm not surprised initial sales increased, but the sales going forward including the brick and mortar sales will be interesting to watch. The statement that most of their sales were from young urban males are obviously their targeted market. As I said, let's watch their revenue for the 4th quarter and their share prices to see what the REAL outcome of all of this will be.

Very good burgers.
Disclaimer: Honestly, I'd trade the In-N-Out right down the road from me for a Popeyes. In-N-Out is good, but not that good.

Brick and mortar sales are essentially extra to these companies now. The internet of things, and all that. I’d bet their sales continue to rise because of their targeted customer base. Again, your average 40-50 year old white man from middle America isn’t buying Nikes enough for this to affect them. Jmo, but I said a week ago I thought their sales would increase, and they did. 31% is huge.

The next quarter(holiday season) plus their stock price should give us the answer.

This is me and it's true. I buy some Nike sportswear, but not the shoes. The shoes are targeted and styled for kids.
Also, they are just not good shoes. Even their running products are poorly designed and cheaply constructed.
I remember what it was like to have an interest in what other people thought was stylish. I got a pair of OG Jordans for junior high basketball season in 1985, and thought they were the greatest thing ever. But I am decades past the point where I would consider buying an inferior product at a similar price point to a higher quality one. JMO on their shoe line.

Nike Live Shows Physical Retail Is Far From Dead
by Jon Bird
"
"Retail stores will completely die by the end of this decade, warned venture capitalist Marc Andreessen in an infamous interview back in 2013. “Retail guys are going to go out of business and ecommerce will become the place everyone buys,” Andreessen told PandoDaily's Sarah Lacy. “You are not going to have a choice…Software eats retail.
Five years on, while traditional retail has definitely been rocked by online,90% of sales still take place in brick and mortar stores."

Is that for shoes specifically, or all retail? Huge difference.
I couldn't tell you the last time my wife or I purchased shoes in an actual brick and mortar store. This goes for both of us and our children. Obviously this is just my own experience, but I think you'll find that the instances for shoe purchases are much higher online than most retail other retail options.
And for me personally, I don't think I've bought any clothing, outside of a tailored suit, in a brick and mortar store in probably 5 years. Granted, I don't buy a lot of clothes, but when I do, it's pretty much 100% online now. I have a lot of friends who are the same way.
Article from last year showing that online sales are not slowing down.

This comes from the article you posted: "The net effect of this is that Apparel’s share of total digital spend has grown each of the last three years, from 15.4% in 2013 to an all-time high of 17.0%in 2016."
The article I quoted was referring to the entire Nike Corp., meaning ALL sales. I realize that everyone is buying more and more online, but there's obviously more time left for the brick & mortar stores to be viable. Hell, I want to see, touch, try on and immediately start using what a purchase...but that's just me.
