Nah, not really. I think it has more to do with the huge number of Texans everywhere, and a few of them tend to be obnoxious or disrespectful, so people find it easy to say "frick Texas, Texans are assholes".

Mississippi sure has given the world a lot in terms of music and entertainment. Alabama has a nice coast, I'll give you that.

After having spent a significant amount of time in both, I feel confident in saying that Alabama and Mississippi are literally the same damn state. The only difference between the people is which cfb team they root for.

Mississippi is like any other place. We have good parts of the state and bad parts of the state. The Delta is a black eye, good hunting though.

I will vouch, California is the prettiest state and has broadest range of natural resources. But the changing demographics over the years have ruined it.
