My theory after the last one is Leia was the Sith.

Hmm. That's interesting. I had never considered that.

I think the Jar Jar = Sith Lord (maybe even Darth Plagueis himself) theory has moved beyond theory and is more like a fact at this point. Quick rundown.

1. He has very strong force powers of persuasion. Has persuaded the Jedi to allow him to tag along on their quest to find Anakin. Has persuaded the leader of the Gungans to name him a Bombadier General despite acting like a clutz (deliberate ruse) all the time. Persuaded Padme and others to name him senator. Persuaded the entire galactic council to grant Senator Palpatine emergency powers, effectively establishing the Empire himself.

2. After worming his way into the Jedi quest to find Anakin, he then befriends Anakin and begins the work of turning Anakin against the Jedi by mocking Qui Gon behind his back, and also by pushing Anakin towards romantic feelings for Padme.

3. If you go back and watch The Phantom Menace you can clearly see that Jar Jar controls Padme's SPEECH with his mind. Evidenced by lip synching the exact things she is saying while arguing with Qui Gon two separate times.

4. He senses the future at least once while in a meeting with Padme and her council by somehow knowing that two Jedi were approaching their door.

I mean, I could go on and on. Jar Jar Binks is a Sith Lord.

There was a deleted scene from Phantom Menace in which Jar Jar and Palpatine (both from the planet Naboo, BTW) were walking down a long causeway and Palpatine was falling over himself thanking Jar Jar for granting him the power to form the empire.

Fan backlash against the character caused Lucas to change the story arc though. It was supposed to be Yoda and Jar Jar having a lightsaber duel in The Clone Wars. Count Dukoo was thrown together in his stead.

I hope Disney brings this obvious plot line back into the new movies because it's pretty awesome.

ETA: This would also mean that Jar Jar is THE Phantom Menace

Here is a YouTube video explaining the theory in more detail

We went and watched Star Wars today.

I thought it was very good. One of the best installments of the franchise.

My only question was about Snoke. Who the frick is this guy? He, like Dukoo, seems to be a character thrown together to mask the fact that Lucas chickenshitted out on revealing Jar Jar as the Phantom Menace. Maybe they will reveal it in the next installment. I mean, they gotta, right?

But The Last Jedi was very good.

ETA: also, there needs to be some kind of grace period established before folks can start giving spoilers on the internet in discussion forums like this.

Like, I don't think it's any spoiler to say that Leia will not be in any more of the movies. I think, considering her untimely departure from this place, that the producers of this show were amazingly lucky to have had that thing filmed as it was. That final scene aboard the resistance cruiser was just fantastic. I almost teared up a couple times knowing that this was Fisher's last movie.

Granted I'm not a huge star wars history buff, but where did Snoke come from?

Nobody knows. He doesn't appear to be a Sith, if that tells us anything. He could be a reincarnation of Darth Plagueis. But he appears to consider himself "above" the Sith order. He doesn't wear black, and he is always talking about the balance in the force. About how as darkness grows, the force balances it with light and vice versa.

It fits with the entire theme of Last Jedi. About how the Jedi order needs to end because when the Jedi grow strong in the force the Sith grow more powerful to counter balance it. The new Jedi will embrace both sides if peace is ever to prevail.

So since Snoke is not a Sith, who is the second Sith? There's always two.

What makes you think Kylo Ren isn't a Sith? He sure looks and acts the part. Dude idolizes Vader.

Being evil and wearing black does not mean you are a sith.

We don't have enough info to determine whether he is Sith or not. He was trained in the force by Luke Skywalker and turned to the darkside the same way Vader turned.

I think it depends on who was training him. I don't think it was Snoke. I mean, he eventually ended up with Snoke, but from what I understand Snoke was off in some other galaxy until recently.

Eh. Maybe you're right though. Maybe there are no more Sith as of now.

I still think Jar Jar has a part in this story to play.

Jar jar was in fact a Sith Lord as there was a deleted scene with him and palatine that proved it. They just chickened out after all the jar jar hate and backlash.

Rae is obviously a Kenobe and granddaughter of obi wan.

The Sith Lord snoke used the same method that Luke did. He was never in the Room but use a hologram to test his pupil.

He is not dead just pissed off.
