The only problem with this is if she happens to like you more than a friend. She will keep pursuing you and be jealous if you try to get with her friends and you'll get cockblocked and end up with nothing.
I usually just go with "be myself" and feel the girl out till you know how she feels then determine the strategy

That worked for me, but I was the guy that moved next door to the hottie. Her parents had my parents over the first night we landed in Palo Alto. I was going to be a senior in HS. She was headed off to college to acting school in NYC. I wanted to go out with her, but she wasn't interested, but we did chat a lot. One day she called me up and wanted to know if I would go out with her friend. Then I became a regular for girls she brought home from school. My parents went somewhere every weekend when I was in HS and college, so I had the house to myself if I needed it.
End of the story is that she hit it big in Carrie, and I never spoke with her again after that. She just didn't have time for the little people. Sigh.
