Used to kill those things by the dozen when I was little in Missouri. In spring me and my friend would sharpen the end of a big stick and go hunting for them. Typically found them on the sunny side of rocky hills. I never got bit, friend got bit on two occasions. Made him sick but nothing too bad.

Moccassins are aggressive as hell. We had one coming at us on a putting green a morning after a big rain.

I also was in a fight of life and death with one at my house in Florida. I had a shovel and felt like a boxing match. I had a hell of a time hitting it with the shovel head. When I finally did you would have thought I won a title belt...

For the most part I leave them alone. Not cottonmouths. This SoBs ask for it. I've run off most rattlesnakes and copperheads (other than the one I found in my yard, because that's my yard and my kids play there) but every one of those I've killed have been the aggressor.

I kid you not. We were fishing in a creek once and one sleeping in a tree fell a few feet from our boat and started trying to get in there.

Eff that noise.

Just went outside & the rat terrier killed another garter snake. I hate snake threads, seems like every time I read one, a damn snake pops up at my house.

Snakes generally are not aggressive to people and help control other species. Don't kill them unless they are threatening you.

If they are in my line of sight that is a threat to me, my family, and to America. I kill with a swiftness.

Try East Lake Park. Very safe. Never once seen a snake there...

I was giving my kids a tour of some of my childhood haunts when we were visiting a few weeks ago. When we went by I said "That's East Lake Park. Don't even ask because we won't be stopping."

Mocassins are territorial, but copperheads aren't aggressive at all really. I stepped on one when I was five and all it did was hiss at me.

Where the hell did you people see all these snakes at? I lived next to the woods and played in the woods, but rarely saw a snake.

We always saw snakes in the woods here in Missourah. Specially float trips.

And on golf courses. My brother in law likes to pick up snakes along the course and throw them between your legs as you address the ball.

woods and ditch behind my house. You must not have been aware

We use to go out hunting for snakes in the ditch. I smashed one out of mid air because a body threw it up from the ditch and it was heading towards my face

I have also had moccasins try to get into the boat while out crawfishing with friends

I bet your park is not a shovel free zone. Shovels can be very effective snake stoppers.

I prefer a long-handled hoe to a shovel for snake control...

We always see some early in the season at the lake. One of my friends is OCD about not anchoring near the shore, so we always have to be in the middle of a cove.

You might be surprised to hear that attempting to kill venomous snakes actually increases your risk of snakebite.

That means you're doing it wrong.

6, 7 1/2, or 8 shot @ 30 feet or so leaves few remnants of the creature's head and absolutely no chance of getting bitten.

I don't go looking for them and don't bother them in the wild, but a venomous snake on my property where my little girl plays is getting killed every single time.
