I'm finishing up The Orphan Master's Son right now and cannot recommend it enough. One of the better books I've read in a few years. It's set in North Korea and some of the subject matter is just fascinating.

Belle I was literally considering making this thread into that initially but I didn't know how that would go over.

The fact that no one gets my office reference saddens me

I was a total book nerd and won accelerated reader every year till I discovered sports and girls.
I'm just now getting back in to it. I counted it up and I read 40 books last year. 4 this year so far.

I have read Devil In the White City and have picked up In the Garden of Beasts a few different times to read, but it never grabbed me. It is a lot slower than Devil at first, but I've heard it picks up once all the characters are established. I've made it almost 100 pages and haven't hit that point yet. I'll try again at some point.

Deer blind time. I say this year but I guess since Christmas.
I also travel for a living and read in the hotel instead of going out and living it up.

Once upon a time I read 3 to 6 books a month but I haven't done that in a long time. As I get older and my eyes get worse I get further away from reading.

I make a vow to read more every year and usually do until summer hits. I also make a vow every year to tackle War and Peace but haven't yet. Maybe this is the year.

Historically I've done the most reading in the summer, but I'm not sure how it's changed now that I'm no longer in school.
