They know oxford is under a microscope.
And I'd bet that they do choose other towns as well.
But headlines like "Confederate flag protesters in Grenada, MS" aren't as salty.
Bingo

When you want a cheesesteak you go to Philly
When you want a lobster you go to Maine
When you want to wave a Confederate flag around you go to Oxford

I lived there for some time and I can promise you that people come from all over the country to protest stuff like this. Idk if they were affiliated with OM or not but the fact of the matter is doing this in Oxford gets you national attention. Doing this in most towns does not.

Wrong because if they were faculty they would be fired immediately. There was a kid in the Rebel Run a few years ago that broke out the confederate flag while running across the football field. He got expelled.

Now you're altering other peoples' posts to fit your narrative. Just give it up man, it's not clever.

Well there's just as much proof that these people are form Arkansas as there is them being associated with the university.

Meanwhile, in Chicago, 4 people were killed and 5 wounded in shootings while they were away.
Congrats on bitching about a peaceful demonstration of a flag.

On the contrary, I'd proffer the opposite: In a town the size of Oxford, the chances of being recognized are very good.
A professor and/or administrator would therefore face intense scrutiny and consequences to such public behavior. If I'm an Oxford resident, I go elsewhere to exercise my right of free speech on this topic.
And let's be honest: Those folks aren't students.

Pank isn't racist. He lives in real murdery Memphis-Memphis.
History haunts Ole Miss and Oxford in a unique way. Not that there's a lot of concrete things they could do to stop it. Still, I've never met an Ole Miss person who didn't take at least some pride in their "conservative" bent (i.e. we're frattier than thou). I generally get the opposite from Fayetteville people, their praising how "liberal" and "open-minded" the community here is.
Combine that "conservativism" (CCoC-rich territory) with a past filled with symbols ripe for adoption by the racist douchery, and you have a place that will be more attractive to that element young and old.
There was a segment of people who raised complete hell when the Arkansas band stopped playing Dixie at football games in 1969. The administration insisted that we move in a different direction. But the campus here was actually experiencing the "real 1960s" with Vietnam protests, hippie sit-ins, etc, on a pretty standard scale. I think they had more support to get rid of the old symbols than Ole Miss did, partially because of how Ole Miss saw themselves back then. As the conservative, "elitist" campus in the state. It was more wound up in their identity, and it still is for whatever reason.
It'll mostly go away when they change their name back to Flood and start calling themselves the University of Mississippi.

Meh, I don't really care.
Mondays normally suck, so I was just trying to rustle some jimmies to get a laugh or two. No harm intended.

Westboro baptist church brought their vile hate and protests to Oxford about 7 months ago,
According to logic of these OM obsessed people in this thread
This must mean:
A) westboro is associated with ole miss.
B) it's safe to assume that ole miss faculty and students make up part of westboro's church membership.
C) that ole miss as a school supports and encourages westboro and their bigotry.
Brilliant logic rebsessed patrons.
Btw Stone hog and ystar are part of westboro, them claiming other wise or defending themselves means they are defending the actions of westboro and their hate.
(ystar logic)
