The trend is laziness, greater access to media and the dumbing down of America.

Technology has afforded the human race to exist beyond survival of the fittest. Probably the best, and the worst thing to happen to us.

Another trend is the huge headlines separate incidents like this gets, while rarely pro gun circumstances are mentioned. It's the gun control bias at play.

Ok padre. Look at how many hundreds of millions of firearms have been sold the last eight yrs, and get back with me on the trend of gun violence in that time period.

You're partially right, but there is clearly more mass shootings than there were in the past. C'mon man.

And?

How would gun safety courses fix that then? That's because this country is in moral decay and has become a ME society.

More hoops to jump through = less people willing to do the work needed to get a deadly weapon. Less dumb lazy hotheads, specifically.

How would that have stopped Adam Lanza?

It won't stop ALL gun crime. Don't build that up and attack it like a strawman. I am saying it would REDUCE gun crime. Which is a positive.

Exactly. The more you have to put in work to get something, the more you're going to respect it. If it takes me 8 hours to get a license to conceal a firearm and way less time to buy an actual firearm, I'm not going to care about the safety and proper handling of it than the person who had to take a week long class, etc.

It's another deterrent without actually taking anyone's rights away from them.

I'm just countering your claims.. which keep getting the goal posts moved.

First gun crime is out of control, until you look at gun crime vs guns owned and sold.

Then you brought up mass shootings.. which wouldn't have been prevented with mandatory gun safety classes...

You're not going to reduce ANY crime, until social programs, education and poverty are addressed. So just stop with trying to blame it on guns and putting more burdens on citizens that have a RIGHT to own them.

Should everyone have to take a class on public speaking before being allowed to address city councils on hot topic issues?

Should citizens have to sign a waiver and keep it on file with LEO officers, so that they can have their houses searched any time a LEO feels there could be an issue of public safety?

Why not require people to pass an American history class and Constitutional Right's class to be able to vote?

Infringing on a Right, is just that. Infringement. And should not be tolerated in any way.

Blaming everything else but guns is about as silly as blaming everything on guns.

You seriously don't think education/poverty and the moral decay of society is what is causing the reasons behind crime?

If it's guns that is the cause, with over 300 million in circulation, why aren't we having a purge?

It's crazy to think that failing to address the root causes and punishing and making it harder on law abiding folks is the answer.

I think I'm starting to catch on to what you're really trying to say.

I don't think so. I've straight up said what I have meant to say. Infringing on a Right is not the answer. Addressing the causes of crime is. Focus on education, lessening poverty, mental health issues... That is what will reduce gun crimes. Not making lawful citizens jump through hoops.
