Yes sir! The Lord did not intend for us to live hundreds of years. We would take life for granted!

However, I am glad the scientific discovery has been made... as long as it remains in theory and not in practice!

The "funny" thing about that meme is that it is entirely plausible.

The world is too expensive right now in a lot of ways. That doesn't mean I'm going to start shrieking for Bernie to go full on communist but some common sense does need to apply.

As to the original topic, a person, even one in good health, can live too long I think. At a certain point you've been there and you've done that. Say you live to be 200 and 175 years of that is in good health. Do you really want to spend 125 years working at the same job week after week?

Now, as I've said, I'm fine with me living to be 500 but I'm bitter and spiteful and want to make sure I outlive everyone I hate. A man has to have his hobbies after all.

It wouldnt work that way friend.

You wouldnt live to be 60, like now, then tack on another 440 years.

You'd get to be 16 for 7 years, 17 for 7 years, 18..etc

Thinking this over, how would parents work out potty training for 7 years ?

Instead of getting no sleep for 2 years welcome to getting no sleep for 14. Good heavens. It would take a village to raise a child because after the first 5 years the parents would be homicidal.

The current crop of us low lifespan people would phase out as the longlifers phased in. Mother nature would likely correct the urgency to reproduce as we evolved. I trust evolution.

There has been a fairly large decline in the birthrate for developed countries. In the past we (humanity as a species) had to be prolific breeders to: A. ensure that we would have some children that survive long enough to become adults and B. function as our retirement plan. In a poor society your children, not the state or doctors, are the people who will take care of you.

The United States is pretty much the only developed country enjoying a robust increase in population and that is primarily driven by immigration.

I suspect if we being to routinely live into our 3rd century of life that trend will continue. As the world slowly becomes more prosperous the birth rate will decrease to the point where it might drop below the replacement threshold and the world population will begin to slowly decrease.

Usually that would be something to worry about but we have plenty of people and a lot of time to worry about increasing births if we need it.

That or, God help us, the Duggar women with their clown car vaginas who pump out 20 kids each will one day replace everyone.

Oh, Boy!

Another mix of pharmaceuticals to dose the planet with.

Unless this stuff or it's functional mechanism breaks down in the body we could be medicating all manner of unlikely life. We already know enough that it works well on nematodes. What we don't is how other organisms might be affected and if the effect is linear. Even if was just the beneficial critters that alone could re-balance our current rather harmonious balance of life(spans).

We've currently (sic) seen many unaltered drugs getting passed through our guts downstream to the next community downstream (and then again, somewhat more concentrated, again and again). So it might be prudent to consider some mechanism to contain this and not just introduce it willy-nilly into our environment or living space.

. . . the old ounce of prevention.

Have any of you other parents seen how damn expensive those books are??? That's just dirty what these publishers do because the students have no choice but to buy them.

Oh it gets better. See, they figured out you can find "free" copies online, and of course order used copies of the books. So, how do they milk more dollars out of you despite these circumstances? They make you pay for "online access" for homework, fricking homework. It is indeed expensive.

In the ancient Bible times, the atmosphere was different. It had more oxygen, because the climate was warmer, there was more CO2, and many, many more plants pumping out O2.

Why the frick do Democrats want to stop us from living longer?

What's fake?

It's on the same page as your link. It's from a study two years before the one you liked/link/pushed and a precursor study. Which offered more of what you posted.

Not according to the Old Testament.

-Methuselah 969 years
-Enoch about 350 years
-Noah about 950 years
-Adam and Seth both over 900 years
-Lamech over 750 years

Just sayin'.
