Give Memphis to Mississippi or Arkansas and Tennessee would be #1.
Take the Delta out of Mississippi and Mississippi is ranked in the top half of all categories.

Sorry if you’re offended. Not really.

You’re entitled to your opinion, and I respect that, but you’re wrong.

Got to agree with you on this. All your facts made it an easy choice.

Such a strong and convincing argument. Especially from someone not even from the state who hasn't done research on the matter

I'm not offended in the slightest. Just providing historical context. Feel free to refute it. I have statistics to back up many of my claims if you want to get in the weeds on this.

I have a 3 o clock meeting, but I'll be back. Say the word, pal.

the poor and uneducated whites of Louisiana are a huge issue as well

Agreed! They can be just as bad if not worse than the poor blacks in certain areas! People blame it all on the blacks though. It’s sad.

I mean, the state of Mississippi didn't officially ratify the 13th amendment until 2015 so I'm not shocked

And people laugh at me when I say that the Omaha-Council Bluffs area is a vastly underrated area to work and raise a family.

No surprise. I'm sure it's a very intelligent and hard working area.

I can only speak for myself, but racism was so normalized for such a long time that I wouldn't be shocked if you witnessed more than you are recalling.

That's possible. There's one thing I can for sure think of now, it was racist but I think I'm the only one offended who knew anyone was being racist- if that even makes sense. That was when I was a little kid (probably 9?) and playing softball and went to a tournament and I stayed in the hotel room with all the black girls and my parents told me later that some of the other parents had commented on that fact. Well hell the black girls on my team were more fun than the white girls, who could blame me?

Also, I went to Catholic school that didn't have many non-caucs so my view is skewed- however, I hung out with kids from the public school quite a bit and didn't really see anything but again I'm sure I'm looking thru foggy nostalgic glasses and wasn't there for a lot of stuff.

sad that Orange Beach (AL) made the list.

It's amazing how effective these laws are even still today. It's a huge reason why rural America is still dominated by white people.
Orange Beach wasnt a Sundown town. It actually wasnt even a town, just a few homes. The lazy-arse author that said that didnt even confirm it; just listed it as probable.

Ummmm, no. You'd still have Knoxville.

I agree though, Memphis is a mess big time.

Tri cities is my favorite part of the state but there are a lot of places in the middle of the state, north and south oc Nashville, that are super nice.
