Sounds like Brohm made the smart decision

I asked before why he would go to a shithole like Louisville when there will be an opening at USC, LSU, FSU, OSU, UMich, Miami, etc in a year or two. He's in line for a major gig when it opens up. Marrying UL to clean up Petrino's shite would be incredibly stupid.

Ah come on Louisville is such a great school with great people
Can't blame him for staying at Purdue. Less of a mess, plus west Lafayette isn't a terrible place to live

Taking the Louisville job wouldn't preclude him from taking another bigger job next year if the opportunity presented itself. It's not like he'd be paying any buyout to Louisville.

Uh, when did an LSU fan threaten LSU?

I thought he was a big Louisville guy? If he was ever going to consider it they probably just fvcked that all up with the bomb threat thing. They probably lost a lot of money when the papa johns guy got in all that shite also.

He's smart. Let someone else clean up the mess.

We're no more batshit crazy than the mean in this conference.
If the targeting rule is changed in the off-season, then the billboards will have served their purpose for all NCAA football athletes.

I’d be shitty of him to take it and bounce before he could commit to a cleanup. Its my understanding that once he talked to people in the area about the situation that he knew he couldn’t commit to that and have aspirations to move to a bigger job in the short term.

I already called that Brohm isn't leaving this year. I think he'll be at Purdue for awhile. Nice place, expectations aren't that high, and the Big 10 west is very winnable.
Also Louisville is a dumpster fire located in the ghetto. They sold their souls that past 10 years. They deserve this hell in Football and basketball.

A 4-8 "year 0" season at UL would absolutely lower his chances of landing a higher profile job in 2020.

I agree, but we all know money talks and bullshite walks.

Given that my concern would be the bloom coming off my rose if I go there next year and put in a 5 win season. If things are that bad in Louisville, any coach could be looking at a several year rebuild.

Things are pretty bad. Bobby Petrino was a terrible recruiter. He was able to pickup WRs and QBs with nice ratings but the lines on both sides of the ball as well as the LB spots will take years for them to rebuild. Once he ran out of Charlie Strongs guys and of course Lamar it was the beginning of the end.

I don’t know how they didn’t see this coming.
B1G money > ACC money
B1G money > ACC money

For as much as I don’t like UofL, Brohm and his family are hardcore UofL people. It likely wouldn’t have just been a homecoming for him but for his brother on staff and former UofL coaches who were here under Petrino and John L. From all accounts, he genuinely cares about the program and where it’s going.

IMO it was simple as if he has major coaching aspirations (and I think he absolutely does, has for a long time) that he knew he couldn’t commit the time to truly clean up the mess. And him leaving after 1-2 years would be a disservice to the school.

Update
The Louisville fan who threatened to burn down Trinity High School yesterday over Jeff Brohm’s decision to stay at Purdue will face some pretty major charges.
According to WHAS’ Hayley Hansen, the suspect, who has yet to be identified but goes by the Twitter name “Proud Clarion,” will be charged with second degree terroristic threatening for this series of tweets about Trinity, Brohm’s alma mater, yesterday afternoon:
That last tweet finishes “If you see a man running down frankfort with a gas can and wild look in his eye, it’s me.”
With the FBI now involved, it won’t be long before the suspect is identified. He was clearly making a joke, but in this day and age, you just can’t do that, especially about schools. Talk about a lesson that’s about to be learned the hard way.

This really couldn't have happened to a better bunch of losers. I hope they have losing seasons for the rest of time.
