I don’t know if it necessarily helped me, but I was arguing with someone today and I randomly told him to meet me at Sonic. He looked at me kind of funny and asked me what the hell I was talking about.

Sometimes when I hear someone say a dumb sports opinion, I get all excited because I know my experience from here will help me destroy the amateur.

I don’t know that it’s helped me but I have more than once done : gohogs : (added the spaces for clarity) on texts during games. I’m sure people were like wth.

I moved to Mexico City almost 8 years ago and I didn't speak any Spanish whatsoever. The only real contact I had was on the site, debating with people (especially Sleeping Tiger) and really just having an outlet to speak English. I wasn't on Social Media at all, didn't really have anyone to talk to here.

Most of the big news, like Bin Laden being killed, I saw on TD first. When some news is happening you can usually find a thread on it and know stuff before the main news media tells it.
Lots of miscellaneous knowledge picked up. Good resource for recipes. Good source for different political views. Lots of gardening advice.
