I'm really curious, what do you all from other schools expect would happen if this situation was taking place at your school? I guarantee the situation would be happened the exact same way. Not because it's the right way to be handled, but because there was literally no other choice. Backing Wolfe publicly, or threatening to remove scholarships would cause such an uproar, it would be ridiculous.
You all can act tough on a message board, and claim your school would stand up to these protesters, but the truth is that right or wrong, this is just the way the world is now.

Either you don't believe there are racist events that happen at LSU
Nope. Racist events can happen anywhere.

or you believe that your black population is sufficiently suppressed to the point that they wouldn't protest. That's it.
Nope, I believe that the students at LSU would not force the resignation of the president for the actions of some dumb, racist kids.

No need to answer because you are wrong about my original point. The LSU BOC would have taken the exact same course of action IF presented with the same situation. You're wrong.
I'm saying we wouldn't be presented with the same situation because the culture of LSU is not one of mindless liberal SJW activism.
But hey, whatever. Tell yourself what you need to so that this whole thing at Mizzou feels OK or normal...

Good point. And I don't think any of us know the answer.
Did he handle the situation poorly? Probably.
Should he have been fired? Probably not.
Did Missouri have much of a choice? Probably not.
What would any of our schools done differently had it happened at our respective universities? LSU? Alabama? Ole Miss? TAMU? If the answer is "stand your ground" and run the risk of not playing a football game next Saturday (or in Alabama's case, potentially forfeiting a playoff season) then you are delusional.

What's sad about it? A group of people were unhappy with the president of the college, peacefully protested, and got what they wanted. The system works.

wolfe either could not or refused to handle the concerns of the Mizzou students. in that respect, he was a failure at his job.

Yes. That answer will be "yes" about 95% of your posts.

If that makes me racist than so be it I'm racist.
Yeah. No shite, dude. Even a cursory reading of this thread would lead anyone to that conclusion.

Correct me if I am wrong, would this be as big of story of the president was black?
I have no clue what you're asking.

I guess I am behind on the story. Did he not respond to some racist actions or just not respond hard enough?

You aren't behind.
But he probably didn't respond hard enough to the "right" people.

No you know exactly what I'm asking, if the Mizzou president was black would this be that big of story? Would the liberals be calling for his head?

It could be worse. Harvard is about to change their crest because one of the founders owned slaves in 1790.

Now you are just being stupid. Your entire state practically boiled over after hurricane Katrina and a flagship university is a direct reflection of a state's population and demographics. So you keep telling yourself that this wouldn't happen at LSU because it means your head is in the sand.
And while TAMU is an ultra conservative school (again, direct reflection of our state), Houston and Dallas ain't so far away.
I'm just saying, this was a shitty situation for Missouri with no desirable outcome.

If the Mizzou president WERE black, and he didn't provide the leadership that the protesters believed was appropriate for the university, AND he were forced out by those protesters, it would be an even bigger story. Is that really what you were asking?

I haven't had time to read up on the whole story but from if I'm understanding the situation correctly. This is a stink about what was posted online by a Missouri student, professor, or students? Right? Seems the President shouldn't be held accountable for what a student/professor says online. I'd think this opens Pandora's Box. Do we fire a University President when some student/professor says something mean about a Christians, Jews, Muslims, Women, or any other group moving forward? Thinking about that right now, I've had a few Professors already that weren't to kind to religious folks.
Boy, who hasn't had something mean said about them, done wrongly by someone, or things not go your way you'd like. Glad I've got thicker skin while realizing a oldie but goody......
