I'm sure you guys have heard about this. If you watch the video clip in the above (safe for work but requires volume) does it sound, just a little bit, like the lady is blaming the boy?

Wife and I went to that Schlitterbahn the week before that slide opened.

I usually like rollercoasters and water slides, but that thing looked unsafe as hell from the get-go.

Ugh. I didn't know the kid was decapitated. What were they thinking when they built that 17-story monstrosity that propels people up to 65 mph down the slide?

If this happened to one of mine, and I saw what this poor boy's parents surely saw, I wouldn't survive the following thirty minutes. My heart is so broken for them.

How did he get decapitated? It sounds like they strap you in, did he get ejected from the ride?

Horrible story.

It seems like the safety harness wasn't working properly

shite happens. I was riding a Six Flags roller coaster when I was about 12 and my head got jerked over to the side and hit something - not sure what - pretty damned hard. I guess if that happened to everyone they would have shut it down. It was just my luck.

Those massive water slides have never looked too fun to me. I know I'll be the one with the bad luck who makes everyone wonder why it was built.

I thought I read it was an internal decapitation, although just "decapitation" has been thrown into most news stories.

If that's the case, I don't understand why someone would need to embellish something that's already horrific and terribly tragic.

cause that's what sells.

multiple reports of harness coming off on that ride for months, with video. Harness is velcro. Manufacturer states that material is not meant to be used in a safety harness

Guy I know that lives in KC and been to that park said the harnesses are just velcro straps. Guessing the velcro came undone and he got tossed up in the air into a that cover thing.

Guy I know stood in line for an hour to ride it, then saw the velcro straps and passed on riding it.

Terrible news. I also read that because his father was an elected official, contributions to the gofundme account were subject to campaign finance laws in KS. Awful situation all the way around.
