Houston Chronicle: Former UH baseball player John Altobelli among those killed with Kobe Bryant in helicopter crash

quote:

Former University of Houston baseball player John Altobelli, his wife and daughter were among the nine people killed in the helicopter crash that killed NBA legend Kobe Bryant and one of his daughters Sunday.

TMZ, which first reported the crash, confirmed Altobelli was among those killed. Altobelli was the longtime head baseball coach at Orange Coast College. Altobelli's wife Keri and daughter Alyssa, a player on Bryant's basketball team, also were among those killed, per the Brewster Whitecaps, a Cape Cod League team Altobelli coached from 2012-14.

Unfortunately, many will remember him for the incident in Colorado where he basically got away with rape.

Other victims included John Altobelli, the head baseball coach at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, California; his wife, Keri; and their daughter Alyssa.(who was also a teammate. I added that) The college, in confirming the deaths, said in a statement that Altobelli had coached there for 27 years.

Payton Chester, a 13-year-old basketball player, and her mother Sarah were also on board. Calling the crash a "freak accident," Payton's grandmother Catherine George told NBC News that "they had to get on the helicopter as a convenience today, they usually drove by car."

Christina Mauser, a coach, was also killed, according to a her husband Matt Mauser, who posted the news on Facebook.

Thoughts and prayers for those families and friends.

Only 2 people know what really happened that night, despite what people say on here. This is tragic, I can't begin to imagine what everyone that is affected by this is going through. RIP Kobe and everyone else that lost their lives. Be human and think about the ones left behind, nothing else matters here.
