Lotta Tri follks (white, black, and indian) mix in KY and TN especially in the mountains where the "outlaws" lived and bred with each other. I think lots of folks who do a DNA test now would be shocked to find mixed folks because it was all sanitized later on.
Trappers and mountain men back then did not see black or brown, just the call of the mating season.

That is one side, others are now in big jobs and you would never guess they are mixed. May look all white but are mostly black. Had a friend in law enforcement (smart and strong) looked all black but about 1/4 black, 1/4 indian, and 1/2 white. His wife looked Italian or Greek yet the kid look pure ginger.

i'm much lighter skinned than he is. he's not even that light skinned he's just not burnt
My paternal great grandmother was 100% caddo indian meaning my my grandma was 50% indian. My grandfather was the blackest motherfricker to ever walk the face of hte earth lol so it doesn't really show in my dad who is not BLACK, but isn't light skinned, but it def shows in me.
I have no idea who my material grandfather is so I can't tell you what he is or isn't but my mother is extremely light skinned as well which is really kinda odd because no one else on her side of the family is really all that light skinned.

I took my fiancee to Sarasota / Siesta Keys late last year for a vacation. We go to the store before we hit the beach and stock up on shite.
She's "White" (Half Russian / Half Cuban), and we're in the lotion isle and shes getting shite and she's asking me if I want anything then she hows up the sun tan lotion and she's like " do you need any sun tan lotion" and is dead serious.
So I look mat her and say in my most sarcastic voice so everyone around us can hear "Yes I need fricking sun tan lotion, That's exactly what I came here to get"
200,000 years of dealing with blistering sun with little to no shade, I think my genetics can handle a day at the beach in south west florida

My grandfather used to fish with the blackest man I ever met in my life. They fished across the south and fished a lot in south Florida (mostly the glades) and he used sun screen. He like the stuff you got from the military PX and was called "goose grease" back in WWII. That sun in the Keys is damn near brutal no matter how dark you are.

My wife is asian and I say some heinously racist shite to her all the time. She has a sense of humor about it. If you both laugh about stuff it is a good sign. I kinda suspect that she isn't that racist if she is marrying a black dude. Seems like a strange move for the David Duke types.
