I want to make sure I've got everything I need for my tv, satellite, and future upgrades at the tv location. I've got plugs and rg6 for my satellite connections. What else should I put there to save from a future headache?

Take the amount of amps and outlets you think you're going to need, and then double it. That might be enough.

I've made sure to put lots of plugs. Just wondering what connections you wish you had next to your tv but either forgot or didn't have a choice in the matter

You planning for wall mount in some areas? I wish I had considered that. Now I have cable management running up my walls.

Audio is a big one. Newer surround sound systems use Bluetooth, but you still have to consider power sources for the speakers.

Also, Cat 5 cable wouldn't hurt in case you decide to hook up your TV to any security camera system or if your entertainment center sits in a wifi dead zone or your wifi is heavily trafficked. (For security cameras, it is easier to install everything now before sheetrock goes up and your attic gets stuffed with insulation, trust me on this)

I am a fan of running dual Cat5 / dual RG6 / dual fiber in at least 1 box in every room especially if you live in close contact where your neighbors can pick up your router.

As mentioned, speaker cables, cat5/6, rg6, 220 to the garage, make sure you have outlets anywhere needed, especially garage.

if having any media wall mounted, I recommend using one of these in case of future innovation.

it allows you to pull new lines through a lot easier

I also recommend these as outlets in strategic locations

If it's single level, spend the extra money and run everything up and out thru the ceiling. No drilled holes through studs. Everything is accessible from the attic later on.

This is a big one to me for people building their last house.

I would at 2-3 HDMI cables at each TV location or possible future location.

And What NYC said.

other things to think about would be christmas tree placement and decorations and outlets, if you have a large room, you might want outlets on the floor in strategic locations, light switch next to where bed will be placed.

Speaker wire, cable, hdmi to deck. speaker wire in the garage.

Make sure you have better circuits where you know lots of things or higher amperage items will be plunged into(home theater area, garage, etc...)

If you are building and the walls are open, run your wiring through conduit. Will make future changes/upgrades easier.
