So some of you know that I moved to Minnesota for a training program for my job. I left Nashville Tennessee where my SO of 3 years is still at. I came up here this past February under the assumption I'd have a territory by February of 2014.
Here's the issue. I'm now finding out that it could be longer than February for a territory, and that the odds of going back to Nashville are slim to none within this time frame. This move has put a lot of strain on the SO and I. We've argued and kind of struggled these last few months.
My dilemma is that I have 2 other offers for jobs in my same field, that I could start tomorrow. Both are in Nashville. But I haven't discussed money with them yet because February was my agreed-to date. I plan on meeting in person over Thanksgiving and getting into all that.
I am now debating whether or not I should ride this thing out until February. I've essentially been told February ain't happening, and that Tennessee is only an option if I'm willing to keep waiting, for God knows how long.
Fwiw I'm in sales and don't trust any of these mother frickers.
What would the SECOT do?

A pizza hut is a pizza hut. I'm pretty sure you won't notice a difference regardless of where you work.

The only advice I would give you from an outsider is that in sales, networking at a young age is important.
My dad got a degree in business from the University of Central Oklahoma. Taught tennis in Dallas at variosu country clubs when oil crashed in the 80s destroying the OKC economy. The country club business lead him to sell homes, then write loans, then sell virus protection software, and eventually becomes the Senior VP of Sales for an oilfield services company.
The industry you have, if sales is what your good at, might very well change over the years. I would suggest being in a place that allows the most doors to open and be around the most people you can to make contacts in many industries. If that's Minnesota or Nashville, you have to decide that.

My dad told me once that the most successful people in sales were the ones that were the most paranoid.

I'm in commercial insurance. Right now I work for a private company. My offers are from agencies. I don't think that matters too much. Just FYI just in case.

I'd at least see what the other offers are like. Is the SO able to move to Minnesota with you?

All I can tell you is it's on you. You have to weigh the pros and cons and decide what's right for you. Just remember nothing is undoable and even if whatever you decide to do turns out to be a mistske take it and learn from it.

She is interviewing for a new job and doesn't want to move here just to move right back in 6 months.

What Ag said.
And bend over backwards to smooth things over with the SO if you love her. Makes the rest of life a little easier to cope with, as you know
Prayin' for ya

Get a job in Coastal California. You'll both be happy. The weather and the nature does that to you.

Then look at your other options IMO. You don't want to allow the current company to dick you around either. If they can't give you something a little more definitive then it seems a bit shitty.

go for it. you look out for yourself bro. whoever you are working for would slice you in a second if a better employee comes along.

I would definitely see what the others offer. In the long run you have to look out for you and your family. Only you know what's best for you. The companies only look out for themselves.

1. Get rid of SO
2. Keep all money to yourself
3. Hookers and Blow on the weekend

I'm assuming you got specific answers to the questions regarding territory and time frames going in. If you did and everything "changed" at the corporate level, we're they up front about the changes or did you find out after getting suspicious and asking questions?
If the latter definitely explore all options.

Thanks for the advice everyone.
And yea, I found out after 9 or 10 months that Nashville was a no-go, and that I could be up here longer waiting on a territory. I had to bring it up to get some answers.
I actually considered some other places. But the SO really loves Nashville and I do too.

You'll burn bridges if you leave? Or if you do it before Feb.? If the former, then I think your decision is already made and there is no point in waiting.
