why not just get right to the point and tell us who you are talking about instead of the insinuation?

If he was a good kid, then yes. If he was a punk like Joe Mixon, then no.

I gotta say, I am white, my family is white, but one of my daughters has an african american boyfriend she has dated for 5 years.
At first I was PISSED at this. I mean SUPER pissed. I'll admit racial bias. Fear of mixed kids, would the guy be able to mix in our family, etc.
However, after quite a lot of talking with my wife etc, I decided... what is it thats really important.
1. Does he love my daughter?
2. Does my daughter love him?
3. Do they respect each other?
4. Does he respect other people and especially women?
5. Does he perform well in school?
6. What are his prospects for being a good provider and husband?
7. Does he have a future plan for his career?
8. Does he respect and treat his parents well?
9. Does he do drugs/drink/etc. (within social limits ok).
What I found out was this was the same standard I would apply to anyone who wanted to date my daughter. Race had ZERO to do with it.
Dude passes all those tests. Now if they have kids I aint having any grandkids named Shaquavious... and you better not play that rap shite at my house. (I tell all my kids that). But otherwise...Im good.

Sounds like you had to think this one through for real. Nice choices.

Depends. Damien Harris? Yes. Joe Mixon? Hell no.
It's all about the character of the kid. And that applies whether he's an athlete or not.
ETA - Probably shouldn't have used Bo Scarborough as an example. I don't know enough about him to pass judgement.

Yeah. (we) did. Im still on the road to dealing with it. One thing that did help was that he did a Jalen Hurts and got rid of dreads and now is a clean cut looking guy. I liked that. Not so much for me but for my parents who are both still living and have had to evolve along with the rest of us. Racial bias is deeply embedded. Its a process to get beyond it. I have to say that. That includes his family too. My daughter has her share of white girl crazy. My wife kicked my arse...Im the patriarch of our family. So how I deal with it, is how our other kids process. So I had to get beyond my bullshite.
At the end of the day,I find if you just deal with everybody as people you find common ground is actually not hard. Food, babies, sports, booze, whatever. For old farts like me this is a process. for my grandkids etc...they dont even SEE skin color. Thats good.
One thing though that we will probably always differ on is politics. Thats ok. We all got a vote.
