Has anyone brought up going by a different name? Instead of going by Shaunteniqua maybe you should go by Shaun. I don't think it's right, but some people will automatically assume that person is not someone they would want to work with or be around. Jess say'n.

My wife and I were close to naming our daughter Shaunteniqua... But instead of shortening it to Shaun, we was just gonna call ol baby girl Nikki.

Yes. Thus my point that it isn't "white privilege". It's just privilege.
White privilege is something that was made up to demonize white people who are successful and make excuses for one's own poor decisions.
Privilege comes with success, responsibility, and self respect. Not skin color

And that sounds great and all, but reality is that certain actions have consequences. This isn't about judgement, but rather about making better decisions that lead to more opportunity. That's how you experience privilege.
Also certain styles are attributed to bad character regardless of race. It's just a fact of life..perceptions and first impressions go a long way toward success.

I explained this to you in the other thread -- there isn't. Being a poor white man will get you arrested just as fast as a poor black woman. There's privilege, there's no such thing as white privilege.

Statistically, yes. In the individual, not nearly so much.
You'll never convince people that a white kid who has a single mom on government aid is "privileged" over a black kid who's going to an expensive prep school and whose dad is a lawyer. And you shouldn't.

Every now and then I'll get a kid on my class roster who will make me do a double take when I see that they're white. I think the last one was a girl named Jerika.
