While I’m not interested in getting into a Corps pissing match, you can’t just throw out lies and hope they stick. For accuracy’s sake, about half of the members of the Cadet Corps contract with the military, and receive commissions as officers in the United States armed forces upon graduation. Calling it “fake” isn’t accurate.
The A&M Corps of Cadets remains the number one producer of military officers for the country, outside of the three service academies.
In Aug and Dec of 2022, the Corps commissioned 87 new officers. In May, A&M commissioned 149 cadets into the armed forces. These officers enter the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force and Space Force as second lieutenants and ensigns.

Fake? Its only fake their if A&M claimed it was actual military. It’s a Reserve Officer Training Corps or ROTC. It fluctuates but about half end up commissioned at officers at the end of it. Why does that bother so many of you?

It's either "fake military" or not.
It definitely isn't real, so it must be fake.
Why does that rile up Aggies so much? We all have ROTC programs.

During World War II, Texas A&M produced 20,229 Aggies who served in combat. Of those, 14,123 Aggies served as officers: more than the combined total of the United States Naval Academy and the United States Military Academy.[17]
You finally found something you’re good at! Amen

Nobody is riled up, and nobody is saying otherwise. But at least make accurate statements if you’re going to discuss the subject.

What was inaccurate about my statements?

You can ridicule the Corps all you want — that’s your prerogative. But you can’t just make shite up because you hate all things Texas A&M.

I'm not ridiculing them, just stating a fact. I'd say the same about the cadets at LSU.

You’re better than this, Sidewalk.

I was not and am not trying to offend or disrespect the Aggies out there. Everything I said in my original posy was sincere. Thank you for the assisting the local police forces in training civilians on how to act in times of crisis, emergency, and terror. That said, signing up for the Aggie Corps is not the same thing as signing up for the military, hence the “fake military” designation. It is a valuable transition/preparation tool if one decides to join the military, but one is not required to join the military after graduation. There was a lot of good info posted in the thread.
Keep doing your thing Ags. Horns Down

The army needed lots of cannon fodder for that war, congrats?

You don’t have an ROTC program anywhere close to what A&M has.. you aren’t a senior military college like A&M. LSU had one great military officer..Claire Chennault

Everybody is saying otherwise..respect those that served. Fact is…total up the entire SEC…they haven’t combined served the country like A&M .

Ignorant frick aren’t you? The cadets at the military academies are obligated to the arbors services. Thr A&M cadets, that wish to serve, sign contracts their jr year obligating them to the armed forces.
