Fake news. These documents were kept from the public. They were under seal.
The first batch is out and the first batch doesn't really seem to contain anything too deep. It basically lays out the companies that are all fighting it out in court trying to get the others to pay the claims.
We aren't too the meat and potatoes quite yet, but the hackers have said that each subsequent drop will expose these people to another layer of liability.
Someone posted the entire group of tier 1 documents to a Google cloud 2 days ago. So it appears this stuff was already out there, but it wasn't. It's all searchable now though because it's all online.
ETA: Don't take my word for it. Anyone here can find these documents and cross reference them with the way back machine.

Well, like I said, I don't think there's much in the first batch. But the documents do appear to be legit.

There is a GoFundMe account set up to get these documents out to the public and according to the dark overlord peeps the reason the first batch were released is because they received somewhere around 12 grand for the first batch from the public.
My question in all of this is why aren't the responsible parties (whomever they may be from US gov operators to Saudi royals) paying for this info to remain buried?
I'm guessing this thing is being monitored very closely. And it's my opinion that this info is going to be used to destroy a certain special prosecutor's credibility and may even land his arse in jail.
Just a hunch.

No updates on the tier 2 documents. I have a feeling we aren't gonna get into the good stuff until they drop 4 and 5.
Also, I'm pretty sure anonymous is a CIA backed org. I wouldn't trust anything they have to say. They seem to be controlled opposition.
