Jesus wasn't crucified on Friday

Friday was also a Sabbath since it was Passover.

Jesus was crucified on Thursday.

It is also the only way he could have been in the grave for days.

Day 1:
Thursday. Evening and Morning

Day 2: Friday: A Sabbath Because of Passover. Evening and morning

Day 3: Saturday: Weekly Sabbath. Evening and Morning

That puts the resurrection on Sunday Morning as the Bible claims.

Yep, on preparation day. . . when all risen bread is removed from every Jewish home.

And four days after the lambs selection day or as we know it now Palm Sunday.

It’s funny, when I took a New Testament class in middle school, rather than admit that Jesus was crucified on Thursday, the teacher just says that they counted days differently then.

No, Jesus was crucified on Friday. There are different timing conventions (Roman vs Jewish) also assumptions about Passover and its length that cause confusion. The confusion can and is harmonized by recognizing the differences: YouTube If you are interested, this guy does an ok job at explaining, but there are better sources out there too.

You can argue that counting days differently is stupid or confusing, but denying that the Jews had a different convention altogether is just not correct.

Your are correct....

There are far better sources and stopping James White at 13 minutes was far better than wasting 26 more.

This is exactly the sort of thing that happens when you lose the Jewishness of the Gospels ... or quickly skim past all four Gospels stating Jesus was crucified on preparation day.

Hint: Pesach/Passover is always the 15th day of Nisan. It's like Christmas is always celebrated on December the 25th. Where it doesn't matter the day of the week. They are both special added in sabbath days in addition to the normal weekly schedule. So these particular weeks there's more than one Sabbath day. Another would be Yom Kippur.

So if we add preparation day which itself a special ritual, to the special High Holy Sabbath day of Pesach/Passover, and the normal weekly Sabbath... surprise... surprise...we get three.

(to add)

It just happened that year both of the two sabbath days were back to back...

... or in a row.

for just as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the sea monster , so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

Matt. 12:40

Yes, the Jews had a different way to count days, but there is no way get 3 days AND 3 nights out of just a little over 24 hours.

Cool.

Jewish people do their temple thing on Saturday and Christians do it on Sunday. We are not under the Law because Jesus was the Messiah and Jews are lost.
