I would pay good money to get a tour of the area on a boat. Kids aren't interested in the fishing part of it. Might be worth it for a local fisherman to drive us around for an hour for a few hundred bucks
Murrell's Inlet (towards the southern end) has the chartered boat activities. There used to be one that did some type of tour thing like you want, and it had some type of cheesy pirate theme for the kids. However, this may only run in the summer time. Check out Murrell's Inlet charter boats

No problem. If you've got any other questions send them on, I'm bored so I'll be around for a while tonight.
Myrtle Beach sucks, but it's much more tolerable in the winter if that's any consolation. Tell whoever schedules your tournaments to have that shite in Wilmington next time

Man we live in Augusta myrtle is a haul as it is. Plus they have these tournaments every other weekend across the Southeast so myrtle isn't a "special" trip it just happens to be the one at the beach along with Savannah. The younger two kids don't have to go unless it's a place we can incorporate a good time for them.

I'm an Horry County native. As far as food:
1) Sea Captain's House is good for seafood and has a great view.
2) Cafe Old Vienna is great for German and Austrian food, has a good beer list and isn't too pricey.
3) Angelo's is a great steak and has good Italian food.
4) Gordon Biersch at Market Common is good for a family dinner and outing and it's close to the shopping at Market Common.
5) Rivertown Bistro in Conway is high end southern fare and is the best restaurant in the county.
6) Lee's Inlet Kitchen in Murrells Inlet is the best seafood in Murrells Inlet.
As far as activities:
1) Vereen Gardens is in Little River and is awesome for a nature walk. It's free as well.
2) Brookgreen Gardens is between Murrells Inlet and Litchfield and is the best day trip available. 30 min from Myrtle.
3) Huntington Beach State Park is right across from Brookgreen and is also great. 30 min from Myrtle.
4) Murrells Inlet Marsh Walk is a good way to see Murrells Inlet and enjoy the shops and restaurants close by. 25 min from Myrtle.
I hope this helps.

I've heard murrells inlet is a good place to go eat as well something about some fresh catch restaurants is that right?
A placed called the pickled cucumber is coming up recommended looks like a hole in the wall type place like that place in Charleston north of downtown where they write the menu down daily on notebook paper and nothing has a price on it. That place is good.

Yes as far as fresh seafood it's great. Bovine's, Wahoo's, Lee's Inlet Kitchen, Gulfstream Cafe and Drunken Jacks are all popular spots. A little further south is Pawleys Island, which has Frank's, Bistro 217 and a little place called the Rustic Table, which is more southern food. Frank's and Bistro are more fine dining.

Pickled Cucumber is in Surfside, which is the first beach south of Myrtle. About 15 to 20 min depending on traffic. It is also very good for traditional southern food.

Dude I'm taking 3 kids down to the ocean right now that ain't me.
Got in at 930 so I took the easy route and we ate at margaritaville. There is a sucker born every day and it turns out today was my day. I'll find some local places tomorrow.

How's things going today? Murrells inlet is awesome. Broadway at the beach is also a good place to look around but I know you said you wanted something non-touristy.

Of all the SC beaches, Myrtle is the worst. It's one big tourist trap. I'll take Edisto, Sullivan's, Pawley's, Kiawah, Fripp, or most any other Island/Beach over Myrtle. Myrtle is the Panama City Beach of the Atlantic Coast.

Brother, one thing I will tell you, is if you're around N Myrtle, then eat at Joe's Bar & Grill. Doesn't sound like much from the name, but they have great steaks. We have a state-wide meeting in North Myrtle every year for our industry and my business partner and I eat there the first night every year. It can get a little pricey if you're ordering filets and bottles of wine, but the steaks, seafood, and drinks are all good.

It's February and I'm about to get in the ocean. Got to love living in the South.

Polo shirt, jeans, and boat shoes here in Columbia and I'm a little too hot. The mild winter has been great for work but I'm dreading summer. The swarm of bugs will be of biblical proportions this summer, I fear.

It's a different kind of place, but I enjoy this restaurant called Jerusalem.
It's kosher Moroccan food.
No tourists. Not open from Friday at sundown until sundown Saturday. They have belly dancers sometimes- not a strip club type thing.
