Wendy's changed the fry game when they had skin on their fries. They are the best fries of the big three chains by far(BK, McD, Wendys).

This is my biggest issue at Wendy's as well.
Ask for no salt. You have to wait for them to fry, but you'll get really fresh, crisp, season-to-taste fries. You win.

Let wendys fries get cold though and they're the worst of any chain. Burger Kings are pretty bad cold too.

Some people complain it doesn't feel as good with the skin on.. but hot damn.
There used to be a chain here called Druthers that made gigantic wedge fries and it was the bomb. I could hit those skins all day.

I'm not saying just as good, but at least palatable cold. I hate McDonald's but you can still eat their fries after they've been sitting a while.
Wendy's fries sit out barely 5-10 minutes and they become trash.

Arby's curly fries FTMFW.
But between the big 3, it's (1) Wendy's (old one's and new skin-on), (2) Mickey-D's pleeze, and (3) Booger King.
When I make fries at the house, sweet potato or white, I always leave the skin on, toss them in olive oil and sea salt, and bake them in the oven on one of these:
