Barns and Noble have given up on the nook. The Kindle is the only viable pure e-reader at this point.
At 80 or 90 bucks it is a steal.
I'd rather read on a proper Kindle (not the Fire) than anything else.

What makes you say that?

So was that a vote for Kindle?

Yep. I've only owned a Kindle.

I don't like that the Kindle doesn't support certain ePub files and that Amazon publishes some of their own books that can't be read on other ereaders.
Not that I've really run into that issue yet..

Nook "holiday sales" were down 60% this year from last years numbers and their overall market share is down 20%. They're just going to get run out of the game due to all of the new tablets that are flooding the market. They can do more than a Nook and you can a lot of times get books cheaper on the Kindle/Amazon than you can the Nook.
I say all this as a staunch Nook supporter and user.

We got a kindle fire for the little guy and some reading on my end and I enjoy it immensely.
The nook seemed to limited for me and having Amazon's full library was more appealing.
No hate either way.
