This is what you need. We always had some socially awkward kids pledge my fraternity but they came out of their shells eventually and ended up being pretty cool guys. Fraternities are great for improving social skills and building networks. The sex, drugs, and rock n roll is all just a byproduct.

Yeah my dad was pretty intimidating, so my frick ups were normally pretty minor. But overall I pretty much did as I pleased. My HS girlfriend's parents were pretty much the same way, especially if she was with me, so we pretty much got to do whatever.

I was a good kid in HS though. I didn't drink until I was a sophomore in college.

I was more or less a closet, but light, drinker in high school. Same with dipping. Only a few of my best friends knew I did until after we graduated. As soon as I got to college the drinking got kicked up a pretty good bit and kept going up for a while before it's plateaued out and has since gone down a little. Not much though.

Pledgship isn't bad. Parts of it sucks but overall, it wont kill you. Bama has gotten REALLY strict with cracking down on houses hazing and the guys I know at Ole Miss say its a cake walk there.
I highly advise you to do it. You'll meet TONS of people and you'll never regret it.
