Got to thinking today after talking to a buddy that lives in Nashville now. Does the kids at Vandy have the same crazy fun experience like LSU, Ole Miss or Bama kids do?? Same scene with greeks, sports, etc?

Probably not with the school, but going out in Nashville if you were the party type would be awesome. Probably wouldn't interact with other Vandy students much, but if you were a student you could pull quality poon in Nashville bars just because you're a student at Vandy.

I went to the football game at Vandy in '09 and it was a blast. I say go.

I'd be willing to bet that an "SEC experience" wasn't high on the list of priorities of most of the regular students who got into Vanderbilt.

Nah. I hear vandy students do crazy shite like taking showers and talking in complete sentences

They party really hard. In that sense they get an SEC experience. Not the same experience you would find for football though. They just don't care. The fraternities usually throw big parties on gameday and people are there just to party and aren't even wearing team colors or anything like that. So in the party sense, yes, you get an SEC experience and a great education.

How is Greek life there? If decent, what are the good sororities?
(Doing some research for an article. Thanks.)

Egghead reputation aside, Vandy is a fun school.

Big Greek and party scene for an elite school. Geographically diverse student body, some of whom follow Florida, Penn State or the Patriots and don't care all that much about Vandy sports, if they care about college sports at all. BUT, at the end of the day we have a major D-I athletics program and the sports scene is bigger and better than that of 90% of schools. Big basketball games are a blast.
Obviously most students are very serious about school and professional development, and there are a lot of classic nerd types and cut throat competitors. Like anything, it is what you make of it; you can party hard if you want, do the Greek thing, be a diehard Vandy fan (yes they exist) and go to all the games or live in the library. Once you are 21 Nashville is going to be way funner than Oxford or Gainesville.
