Divorced guys and gals. What ended your marriage and who made the call?

I did something stupid and got married young. The marriage lasted 2 years and there were no children involved so the damage was minimal. She told me on my birthday that she didn't love me anymore and that she wanted a divorce. After talking about it I realized that it was my fault she felt that way so I agreed and paid for the judge and paperwork.
Like I said, I was young and I needed college money so I joined the army. I left home in January and didn't get out of training until June. That is almost 6 months the girl had to spend away from her husband. So obviously Jody was taking care of my wife while I was being a good soldier and the marriage didn't survive. I don't regret my military service or losing her because of it. My real mistake was taking a wife at 19 yrs old. I am curious to hear other stories.

Hey, I actually realized that I put her in a bad situation and I had more of a conscience back in my younger years before I figured out that people in general suck and don't deserve my sympathy.

My job sent me overseas pretty regularly, but the money was good. I found out that my wife (now ex) had started sleeping around. We agreed to separate and divorce, and I, being the "nice guy" I am, agreed to help her get on her feet before the divorce was final. She took advantage of this situation and avoided getting a stable job, got heavy into drugs, and I eventually had to just walk away...with her saying she would take everything from me in court.
Needless to say, she didn't.
Needless to say, she didn't.

Of course that is funny. I should have expected a young woman with no money or assets to pay for the divorce. Or is it hilarious that I thought the situation was really my fault for leaving her alone for 6 months just 1 yr after we got married?

Relax man...just fricking with you.

I think it's funny she cheated on you and you blame yourself, and because of that blame you paid for the divorce that she initiated.

Did she have no idea that was a possibility? Did you never discuss that being something you might do?

She took a vow before you and God. If she can't go 6 months without screwing another guy, she is a piece of shite whose vows meant nothing in the first place.

My first wife had trouble getting along with my girlfriend.

I get it and that was my first thought. Then I understood the loneliness and thoughts of abandonment she felt. I also maybe felt sympathetic because of all the pussy I got after basic training was over. Being in the army was like wearing a pussy magnet. Women flock to the base knowing young men away from home and family get lonely too. Live and learn. There are always two sides to every story and I have always tried to be prudent enough to realize that.

I've posted my story on here below.
I came home from work, found a note on the front door "I'm tired of living for everyone else, I want to live for me". Puzzled, I opened the door and walked into a house with no furniture.
This was before the days of cell phones, so I called her parents, and they just told me she would be in touch.
I found out the next day our bank account was empty.
Turns out she had been seeing an old boyfriend, and I had no idea. I had also put her through nursing school, worked overtime to pay for it.
But, I had made a commitment to her and God, and so I told her she would have to divorce me, that I wouldn't do it. It took 1.5 years, but she finally did, and I moved on.

Damn son.
Just want to say that with a story like that you have every right to be a bitter person but you don't come across that way at all. Props to you.

Thanks, but I had my moments during the ordeal itself. I went from 168 lbs to 119 lbs in 2 months. I can't tell you how miserable it was.
But I trusted God to use this for my best good, and 2 years later I met a wonderful woman, and we have celebrated 19 years of marriage, and are growing old together. It worked out for me.

I got lucky and found out she was a cheating whore before I slipped the wedding ring on her finger. All I lost were three years that I could have gone out and gotten some strange.
I saw her recently and realized I dodged a bullet. Three kids and she's the size of a VW Beetle
