Next time I go to KCMO I'm hitting Jack Stack's or Arthur Bryant's. Hopefully they can do it better than the Texans that have fricked up so many briskets.

Every time I go north of I-20, I'm astounded at the obsession with pimiento cheese.

Bro, been to probably a dozen places around Austin, Waco, Dallas, and Killeen and have yet to have good brisket.
Sides were great. Great atmospheres. But the meat was not good. Best brisket I've had is by a neighbor originally from Memphis.

I boil shite loads of them every year. They're good but overrated as shite. It's food that crawls out of a frickin' mud puddle. Just look at what you have to do to them to make them edible.

Louisiana has most of the good food items. I'm sure on very localized levels there are massively overrated things - like Momma Gs at Auburn.
But across the whole spectrum, the only thing I can think of that is widely celebrated but definitely overrated is...
king cake.
It's a shitty, dry cinnamon bun. I won't allow them in my house. I only eat them when I need a sugar fix at work.

Marcelo, you know I respect you as a poster.
Them moving this thread to the Off-Topic Board was complete bullshite.
If I were you, I'd take your complaint straight to the top.
We're behind you 100% — don't take no for an answer.

I don’t think I’ve had bad brisket in Texas, but I usually go to fairly highly rated BBQ places to get brisket.

Golden Flake chips are 3rd rate at best.

Be pals with Jewish grannies, they know their way around a delicious brisket.
Passover is like Jewish Christmas for top level brisket.

Cincinnati MSA (which includes parts of NKY). To be fair, it is actually Greek Chili brought over by Greek immigrants who settled there after passing through Ellis Island.
KY BBQ uses mutton, and really good!

Best brisket I’ve had is at Okeechobee Steak House in West Palm Beach.
