I saw them protesting at The Taste of Nashville this weekend and then I get this coming across facebook. What's the deal and why are people against them?

8 beers you should stop drinking immediately

I have no idea, but I can't help but imagine it's simply because they sound bad, sorta like gluten.

It is entirely this and the fad of "I don't eat it if I can't pronounce it."

We have been genetically modifying shite through selective breeding for generations. We just now better understand the science behind genetics and are able to cross breed for specific traits.

You couldn't just Google this stuff?

And you should watch Dr Oz if stuff like this interest you.

I didn't feel like reading 20 pages of stuff to get to the meat of the issue.

What does Dr. Oz say about it?

GMOs destroy dna, cause disease, and are just bad, mmkay.

They also line the pockets of big industry while destroying the little guy.

They contaminate existing seeds, this contamination can never be reversed.

They require more pesticides, herbicides, and fungicides.

The same people that said Agent Orange, DDT, and PCBs are safe are now telling us GMOs are safe.

Despite perceptions, GMOs do not increase crop yield.

They have less nutrients.

And about 107 other things that are bad about them.

Sleeping Tiger, riddles me this. How the hell are these huge companies making money with a product that cost them a shite load more to produce according to your post?

If everything you listed were true, i'd imagine the GMOS would just be too costly to produce.

That's a dumb reason.

Weird people protest things, that's just how the world works.

Talk to the hot yoga mom, or enlightened intellectual professional, or earthy brewer, or cool artists, or hip musician... maybe then you'll think it's cool to be against GMOs. None of those people are going to make a sign and protest.

No, apparently they're showing to damage DNA.

I mean, are you really going to take me serious anyway, I'd write off anything I say as dumb and nuts.

Fox News, but the guy that wrote it is not a Conservative

The answer, like almost everything, is somewhere in the middle. Most people are gonna try to tell you that one side or the other is right.

Well you are gonna have to be more specific than that. It's a general subject that people are all against, even though it's not that simple or black and white.

I take everything on here with a grain of salt but you've got some good points here and there.
