He's getting to big and adventurous to not use leash. Plus want to start walking him after getting him out of crate to burn energy

Change things very slowly, don't let the dog get too overwhelmed.

Keep minimal distance btw you and said dog

Don't stop when it stops

It walks when you walk an stops when you stop

Don't "pull" the dog. Short and quick but moderately aggressive "yanks" are best

If that doesn't work I suggest this:

Metal choke collar. Use it for all yard training. Buy it now.

Start with sit with collar correction. Then move on to heel. (walking with you correctly). Google this shite.

Take the leash, attach the clip, and direct him where to go. Don't be a damn bitch, and think you're hurting the little guy. Who is the dog and who is the owner? Not saying this is the case with you, but don't be fearful if he pulls back. It's normal. Tell him no, and give the leash a "POP." If you need to, get a prong/correction collar.

Positive and negative reinforcement go a long way.

Pack leadership is the way to go. Just good that and read.

When you need motivation, watch Dog Whisperer on on Netflix.

Short lease, make him walk beside you not in front.

Change direction often to keep the dog attentive to you and where you are going. Works great if your dog its constantly pulling and trying to get you to go where he wants.

I don't understand why people have a hard time getting their dog to behave on a leesh. Put a choker on them. The minute the try to do their own thing, you yank the shite out of it. Do it a few times and they stop. It's so difficult.
