I didn't know we had gay bars in Oklahoma. This was back in 1988 and I was in Tulsa one night and a group of us started to walk in a bar. The door man stopped us and asked me where we were going. I told him we are getting a drink in the bar. 
The door man said look around for a minute... and then I noticed some of the bars clientele outside getting chummy with each other and they were all dudes.
I told him thanks I think we will find another place. He thanked me for us being cordial about it and leaving, said he was affraid if he let us in there would be trouble.
