My boy just got it today

Also accepted to Alabama

Waiting on response from UGA

Auburn actually has more stringent full scholarship requirements than Bama

UGA accepts ACT "super scores"

Not so subtle brag, he has a 4.2 GPA and a 32
ACT - 34 with "super score"

Hope we can find a way to send him to Georgia

It's been that way for a long time.

Congrats

Send him to Auburn.

Pretty impressive. What the hell is a super score? Don't think they had that when I was taking it

Super score is taking his best score from each untit

He's never hit 34 together on one test, but he has had an 18 on math and a 16 on English in different settings

Worst score was 31, best was 32

Not paying for UGA or Aub if he can go to Bama for free...

He didn't get a full ride to Auburn with a 32 and a 4.2?

Have the requirements gone up or are you just waiting on the offer from Auburn?

Our understanding is that Auburn requires a 34 for a "full ride" and tat Bame requires a 32

So the difference is payitfor apartment or getting free dorm

Roll Tide if that's the deal

I want him at UGA, but I ain't paying $500 to $1000 a month for UGA when Bama is free

So Roll Tide I guess. :

I can finally sleep at night knowing that trying harder wouldnt have mattered.

Granted I got in state tuition at Auburn for aviation even though I have never been a resident of that state.

I pull for the Tide, but I'd be War Eagle all day if Auburn wanted to give my son a free ride!
Congrats on your son. You should be proud.

That sounds like it was in the late 90's or early 2000's? That's when UA and AU had to shell out big bucks to be competitive for out of state students in lottery states.

Congrats, OP. Your son sounds like a really bright kid.

Chauncy Rivers was a full qualifier and played 4 games at Georgia but he didn’t academically qualify to play at Mississippi State this season, after two years in a jc. Let that sink in.

Congrats dcbl. Which school does the son want to go to?

Absolutely. I'm a Huntingdon Hawk alum rather than a Bama alum for that very reason.

Growing up a fan of a team is a pretty dumb reason to turn down a quality education for free.

The problem with Auburn is the absolutely ridiculous out of state tuition which is now @28K a year. Cant afford that. I had one go to UGA on Hope Scholarship and two at Ga Southern on Hope scholarship. Dat lottery money is good.

I was in a fairly similar situation three years ago and chose Alabama.

Does your son want to join a fraternity? The costs of that might offset some of the difference between UGA and UA because Alabama fraternities can be very expensive.

Thanks for the well wishes

I think he wants to go to UGA, mainly because he wants to do something different than all his buddies

Hopefully he will be a better spell checker than me ...

Truth is, he likes all 3 schools (and they would all 3 be a good choice)

We won't really know what the financial deal is until we do paperwork

He has been accepted to AU & AL - still waiting to hear from UGA (but he applied there a few weeks after he did the 2 in state schools) - will be surprised if he does not get accepted

Auburn offered in state tuition for GA residents when I graduated high school in metro Atlanta (1987)

Where he wants is a consideration, but if UGA is $15K a year and Auburn is free... War Damn Eagle

He thinks he wants to be a personal trainer...
