serious question relating to the OP:
for a religion that holds evangelism in high regard, why do you guys hold such scorn for people who evangelize that have a different point of view than you? is the billboard an affront to people who don't agree with it? absolutely. but don't you think it sucks for jews and hindus and muslims and buddhists and zoroastrians, et al. to hear your spiel all the time and to be treated as heathens because they have a different belief system than you?
and know that, when i refer to 'you guys,' meaning christians, that i was formerly a very, very devout christian. so, we probably have a similar history in that regard.

I don't hold scorn.
I do think it's hypocritical for some to get their panties in a wad over Christian proselytizing and then do the same themselves.

I treat everyone with love and respect. Just because I'm a Christian and believe in heaven and hell doesn't mean I look down upon those with differing belief systems and treat them differently. By the same token, nor am I offended when a buddhist, jew, or muslim witnesses to me about their faith.

fair enough. what about atheists? how do you feel if and when they witness to you about their non-faith?

I respect them for believing in something enough (or in this case, NOT believing in something enough, I suppose

Then we usually agree to disagree and move the frick on

I treat everyone the same. I personally think that my beliefs are correct but who am I to say someone else's are wrong.

none of which is portrayed in the billboard Looks to me like all they're saying is the birth of Jesus is a myth. Pretty stupid.
Is it as stupid as the 'personal note from god' billboards that I see around my state?

That's really disgusting, but yet sad because they have no idea what they are talking about.

1995 called and they want their stupid argument back.
those guys were tyrants. and they were atheists. but they weren't tyrants because they were atheists. that's like saying they were tyrants because they had black hair. don't be a dope.
That's kinda my point. Joseph Stalin was an a-hole. If he didn't have atheism and communism to be an a-hole for, he'd find something else to be an a-hole for.
The stupid a-hole was a sociopath. He surely would have found a way to kill 20 million people if he didn't have atheism and communism to inspire him.
It's silly to act like christians are the only people worth complaining about.

Atheists' who openly express their beliefs (like this billboard) and turn around and say that "religion has only caused controversy and war" just baffle me. Atheism is a religion just like everything else...
Except they believe and openly support the non-belief, if that makes sense.

It does make sense. What also baffles me is that atheists actually think that reason is on their side.
