In fact, the best approach to drugs might be to legalize all of them. That would immediately take the very harmful criminal aspect out of play in society. Of course, meth, cocaine and heroin would still be addictive but a proactive approach would be to deny insurance, jobs and government assistance to people who choose to use them. That's already the approach anyway. The production and regulation of drugs would be a revenue bonanza for government.
Although I wouldn't push for this atm. I would much rather try something like this than sterilization. I think there are some serious arguments to be made for that idea.

To me a society is sick when it's common knowledge that children will be born into theses circumstances and no action is taken to prevent it.
You can say this but action certainly has be taken. You can debate how effective is has been though.

We're seeing just such a conundrum with the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare. Even with the strong desire of conservatives to kill it, there is much resistance from their Republican representatives because they know they can't just kill it. They want to replace it with something better but have nothing to offer. So they stall.
I don't disagree with any of this but I would be shocked if some amendment doesn't come into play with regards to ACA. There is no doubt that the talking up of repealing it was just a pander to one side but I still think you can expect something in the future. Just is going to take longer than some ignorant individuals believed.

When will your state be equally affected? I think soon because of the nature of the phenomenon. It's like a wildfire that's burning through our country's population. I just hope we can do something to stop it and not have to see it burn through the country with the same damage it's causing here.
Been fun, I'm not sure I can really add anything more to the discussion. Glad I got to see more into why you stand by your idea. Don't doubt that your heart/head is in the right place in regards to the plan and that is important. Need more people thinking like that and not just trying to get by in the moment.

We need more moderates.
Ya or at least reasonable people that are willing to accept that they aren't right about everything and there is nothing wrong about admitting ignorance on a subject.

You obviously know more about this area than me so I that is why I don't think I could really contribute anymore. It would also be difficult to bring any concrete or hard facts when it comes to countering your argument because there aren't really any examples for me to look to when it comes to providing the option of sterilization. A big part of my argument is "feel". Which I acknowledge isn't enough.

Welfare and Public Housing is the worst thing that ever
happen to poor people. It made them lazy with no values
and killed the work force.

I look at this the way I look at most social issues. I see who is against it & then that colors how I feel bout it. Not the best approach but it has not failed yet. Sort of the enemy of my enemy concept. In this case, look at who is against it here in La. where it is shot down every year as being racist.

I use to think this wasn't a bad idea then once you start looking at it, it is just a waste of money most of the time.
untrue, the reality is drug testing welfare recipients doesn't catch many drug users becausea those who use drugs simply drop off of welfare to avoid testing in the first place.
Or do you believe that the percentage of welfare recipients who smoke pot is actually less than the percentage of the general population who say they do? For example.

Test EVERYONE who gets government subsides/welfare/payments etc... that way it probably won't ever be voted on again lol.

lol republicans let the government shut down a couple of years ago because democrats were trying to do away with corporate welfare.

I support testing for those receiving govt assistance. Whether or not it saves any money would remain to be seen, but it should be mandatory.
I agree if it also applies to bankers, farmers, social security recipients and everyone else who receives government assistance. If not, then it's just yet another "frick you" to the poor and that's unnecessary.

Probably the #1 problem in American politics today.

Too hard to form your own opinion? You are what's wrong with politics today.
