I'm looking at Edge reviews now and they seem to be good vehicles

The Ecoboost is sweet but I believe they've had engine issues recently. I've been in an F-150 in field offices and they've had some issues when the turbos kick in

Same platform as the Lincoln MKX.. They look good in the sporty trim. A good amount of the used ones are AWD which is cool, but not needed in the South and will kill the mileage.. Get one w the big sunroof..

Bought my kid one on the cheap. It had some back end problems - put a grand into it. It runs fine now and seems safe. However, if you are looking for style, go elsewhere.

You do not want the new Escape. I have one as a company car and I fill up every day. I swear it gets less than 300 to the tank, and has no storage space.

Still gets good mileage, just a small tank. Escapes are fords test vehicles for new features. So you have access to many cool new features and options on a cheaper platform. Great for around town and city sales reps.

My brother drives an Escape. I really like it.

He gets about 28 MPG.

Haven't had any real problems with it that I know of.

I think someone's suggestion of a Subaru is pretty good. A few of my friends have them and they are great.

SUV? My father in law has one. Very well put together. Nothing crazy on it, but very nice. Has good retained value from what I recall.

They're pretty expensive I think. At least compared to Ford

Subarus are great until something happens and the closest dealer is forever away and the local mechanic won't touch it.

But they have a good drivetrain.

I want space but the Subaru is basically a station wagon I'm not trying to drive a sports but not a wagon either.

I like the c70/80's a lot but they're no more efficient than a Towncar. I've got a towncar I used for my long travel days, comfy, drives like a dream and got 23mpg and can run 80mph at ease.

If mpg and efficiency is important then look no farther than the 1.6L diesel. Unfortunately our shitty American standards mean the best you'll do is around 40mpg.

European standards have turbo diesel engines getting 60+ on the mpg. VW has a diesel option in Jettas.

I like the Escape over Explorers. I maybe partial because I have an Escape though.

Escapes get pretty good gas mileage. I know a numerous people in sales that drives Escapes. Hauling space is not a problem for them, but I don't know what you are hauling.

Only thing I don't like about Escapes is the look. much cheaper. just aren't as "cool" as explorers

I know I've said this a couple of times on this thread, but the new (2013) Escapes are not good at all. There have already been 3 recalls on it. There is no one at my company who likes these vehicles, and if you travel a good amount, you will stop at the gas pump at least once, if not twice a day. The storage space is less than the previous model as well.

The Escapes prior to 2013 were not bad, but the 2013 Escape is pretty much the same as a Focus.
