Cornell Ford said he stays in close contact with JUCO running back signee Natereace Strong. Asked if it's still looking like Strong will enroll late in the summer, Ford said, "We don't know. We'll see. We take it quarter or semester by semester, and we're hoping that things are done by the end of this semester. If they're not, then we've got a couple weeks in the summer time where we can try to make some progress. But right now, we're hoping for this spring, early June."

That would be faster than we at PowerMizzou.com were told. Strong enrolled at Hinds C.C. in January 2015, and was supposed to finish his coursework this August. That would fit two years of junior college into three full semesters (spring 2015, fall 2015, spring 2016) and two summer semesters (which usually consist of fewer hours).

Sooner the better.

For better or worse, Witter seems to be our lead back right now.

Witter looked better at the end of the year and so far during Spring practice this year they say he's running with more power and not going down so easy.

I had read that Williams had been the best RB this spring, but then he got hurt last week. All of them may get pushed back a notch by the 2 newcomers this summer.

There's also a walk-on, Shaun Conway from Ferguson MO, that might be in the mix.

All the talk of walk ons makes me nervous. A few other positions they've been talking them up too

I doubt walkons really factor in during fall camp. 3 RBs will be added then. All 3 were rated as 4 stars by at least 1 of the recruiting services.

I don't know if I'm strong enough to last another season with Ish as our starter running back.

Abbington walked out of the starting job if Strong doesn't get here in time.

Don't forget Doherty, if he actually comes back from baseball.

He's going to be a non-factor in both sports until he picks one or the other.

Nope. Maybe hitting .100 but not playing much. Missing the fall screwed him for the spring. Missing the spring will screw him come the fall for football.

Bill C. with RockMNation on 4/18/16:

"We can hope like crazy for Nate Strong or Damarea Crockett to show up in camp and immediately seize control of the starting running back job, but relying on newcomers to do that results in disappointment about 90 percent of the time. Witter is the bird in hand, and he was solid."
