Why did we abandon the run?

Our RBs averaged 5.9 yards per carry/ the game was within reach until past the midway point of the 3rd quarter and we continued to throw the ball when it was obvious our OL could not pass block. 43 passing plays to 22 RB rushing plays.

First drive of the second half....three straight incompletions.

Can anyone tell me what Henson was seeing? Has he commented on the play calling?

Hansbrough averaging 8+ ypc is something we want no part of.

I'm totally baffled by what we did on offense. I just don't get it. After the first quarter our defense settled down and started playing great football. Had we sustained some drives and put some points up the game was winnable.

Remember when we drove into UF territory with 3 or 4 good runs?

Yea then we threw the ball 4 times and turned it over.

I was certainly curious about this too. We all need to remember that we don't know exactly what play(s) were called, Drew's options on each play, etc so it's a bit difficult to second guess without knowing all the details BUT it certainly appeared that we "abandoned" the run.

Possible logic - We know Witter can't do anything consistently. We don't want to run anyone but Witter or Hansborough to send the correct message to other RBs about what is expected in practice (looking at you Abbington). Hansborough is still too hurt to get anything more than a few carries.

We've seen it many times with Pinkel and his staff. They will lose the battle (lose a game by continuing to put a lesser player out there because he practices "better") to win the war (develop the program and proper mindsets amongst all(most) of the players in said program)

Pinkel said Russ should be 100% this Saturday. That means (hopefully) 20 or so carries and this could go a LONG way towards bringing this offense to some form of respectability.

Georgia has some players on defense, but they are nowhere near the unit Florida is. Or we are for that matter.

mubobby is reporting in again.

Saying GP is very upset over the play calling. Bobby's words were "horrific play calling".

Also said, he thought we won't face a better defense than Florida's.

Said Lock will get better, didn't say anything specific about the run game.

Whether or not it gets more work for Hunt and/or Abbington remains to be seen.

Good - maybe he'll hold Henson accountable. And Ricker for the poor OL play.

Agreed.

I need someone to blow some sunshine up my arse and explain where we are going to get 2 more wins to make a bowl game without an offense.

I'm looking at you Ricker.

There _is_ no explanation. If our offense doesn't improve significantly, we're shite out of luck from here on out.

We can only hope the coaches looked under the couch cushions and found four big 4-star offensive linemen.

Well, we probably won't.

Hopefully the offense starts playing better.

Mizzou has a top 10 defense. If Hansbrough gets healthy there will be a couple more wins on the schedule.

I'm not sure about how good our defense is. It's a lot better than I expected. And still not nearly as good as last year, IMO.

That's not really surprising, it's all young guys. We lost Ray/Golden/Brantley/Hoch from that line. The simple fact it is still producing at a top 10 level is amazing.

Mizzou can beat everyone left on their schedule. UGA/UT will be the toughest.

Miss St at home, Vandy, BYU, and Arkansas are all winnable games.

I still think we have an outside shot at 8-4, and a realistic 7-5 record. With a bowl win 8-5.
