We have to finish out this mess.

Can't just fire everyone. Don't think there is anyone out there to bring in. Don't see Miles as a solution to anything for MU.

My suggestions - don't think they will salvage the season or anything. Just hoping they get things going in the right direction.

Bye Heupel - You are in over your head. You are stubborn and continue to put your players in a high percentage of failure place every play.

J'mon Moore does not play another snap for MU, ever.
There are probably more players that belong in this list, but I hope the message would get sent with one.

Change the offense to more of a pro style offense with more emphasis on the run. Yes, there would be growing pains and missed assignments for a few games.
That is still not as bad as what happened Sat.

Go to a standard defense.

It is very apparent our recruiting shift to bring more athleticism to the team after the loss to Auburn in the SEC Champ game de-emphasized intelligence.

Any complicated assignments are just too much for most of the defensive players to handle. Like the offense, this simpler D will cause problems and other teams will exploit, but it will be better than what we have seen so far this season.

Would have loved for Odom to get the chance to get this team back to competitive levels. Things have fallen too far though. Only thing left to do this season is minimize the damage.

Fire him tomorrow, make Hill the interim, he's been around the program forever.

DC? Don't care, can't be worse.
Heupel can stay as OC simply because we have no one else.

Start calling agents, let everyone know Mizzou will not go back to being a doormat, we care about our program and having a winner.

I'm not a fan of mid-season firings, but it's just so bad and the problem is obviously coaching.

You fire our (so-called) DC, and things get worse. Poor fundamentals. Everybody except the kickers looked bad.

You have to be really concerned about recruiting. Who's first to decommit?

Someone on TB is pushing the rumor that Pinkel would come back as intern HC. That might not be a bad idea.

I like Heupel.

The upside to all of this is this is what the bottom looks like......it literally can't get worse (cosmetically it could I guess).

Would not have guessed Pinkel would be a possibility, but that would be one of best case scenarios a person could create.

I think Heupel has to be the first to go. Even before Odom. I know I am not an expert, but this offense appears to have way too much talent to not be cranking decent numbers against all but elite defenses. And we can do it without continually using only 20 seconds to go 3 and out.

Defense? Think we have just swung and missed on too many recruits for too many years. Trying to hit on diamond-in-the-rough all SEC players instead of going with the solid "good" player too many times. Gotta try that, just can't fill your entire recruiting class with risks.

If that's the case then you need to make adjustments. We commit way too many players to the LOS and when a RB makes one guy miss he goes 50 yards for a TD.

Go back to playing a base 4-3 with Cover 2, bend but don't break. Figure it the frick out Barry.

Cruise,

Completely agree. As I said. it's obvious we have to go simpler just to have a chance at fielding a functional defense.

Kentucky guy posted this about the Wildcats. A MU reporter correctly stated this could apply to the Tigers as well.

Justin Rowland?Verified account @RowlandRIVALS

This also can't be overstated. Current JRs/SRs arrived in locker room w/out leadership. Long term, young guys now learning from real leaders

We had 2(3?) recruiting classes that flopped. We are still feeling the effects of that, along with the effects of the protest nonsense.

Another article with great points about player leadership (lack of) on the team.

LINK

Listed this year's seniors. Mostly guys that have not developed into solid players, much less playmakers. Some anti-leaders - Moore.

Of the group, Sherrils is the only one I have read about appearing to be pissed about the way things were going Saturday.

"Sherrils, Wilson, and Frazier tried to lead by example, and to be sure, the defense stabilized long before the offense did. But when you’ve got basically three seniors leading the way, you’ve got no senior leadership.

That’s not really this coaching staff’s fault — it inherited what it inherited. Obviously better coaching could lead to more success, which would in turn provide the evidence needed for good player leadership. But this is what happens when a winning culture stops winning. It becomes very difficult for even an experienced coaching staff to get that ship turned back around."

Unfortunately, I don't think Odom will not get the chance to develop the leaders this team needs so badly.

Pinkel would be the perfect choice to finish out the year. If he is willing, get Odom outta here.

Going back to a 4-3 over front would put a lot on Garrett in pass defense and it would also put Brandon Lee on the field unless you want to see what the freshman can do.

Honestly I'd look at the tape and bench anyone who was half assing or going through the motions.

I rather have Freshman on the field who give 110% than some upper classman who is just doing the minimum.

If this season is going to be a waste, play the fricking Freshman. This was the exact issue in 2015, when they refused to play young guys on the line and stuck with Seniors who were fricking terrible.

No, but we can fire Odom and get a head start on this coaching search while Heuple takes over as interim HC

Lets get Micah Wilson a couple of series and see what happens.

This needs to start. If you keep running the same drop happy receivers out there play after play, you are saying they are not the problem.

That only leaves one position, so lets find a better solution there.

Note: I do think the receivers we keep playing are a big part of the problem, but Heupel obviously does not.

This is like watching a Jeff Fisher offense. Only Huepel is trying to be slick and modern and fancy, but the turd is still a turd.

The entire O needs an overhaul and simplification. Start there. And stop running all those deep sideline routes.

You can probably count on one hand how many passing plays have gone over the middle.

Well, one reason would be that Wilson is a much better athlete. He'd open up the QB run game which adds a whole new dimension to the offense.

I've seen enough of Lock, but I'm guessing there is some politics at play here.
